The register of historic places is now providing technical assistance to homeowners on property improvements. It is believed that this designation provides additional financial incentives to property owners for the quality restoration of their buildings, while protecting the history of the community and prserving the quality of life for all its residents. Highland park community, which calls for the focus on the southwestern section of the neighborhood by elimination of blight, reduction of crime, creation of affordable housing and the redevelopment of the bryant street business district.
