A copy of the form 990 will be distributed to each of the governing board members before the 990 is submitted.

Form 990, Part VI, Line 12C: Explanation of Monitoring and Enforcement of Conflicts

Each interested person of the Organization shall annually sign a statement that affirms that such person (a) has received a copy of the conflicts of interest policy, (b) has read and understands the policy, (c) has agreed to comply with the policy, and (d) understands that Drug Free Pennsylvania is a charitable organization and that in order to maintain its federal tax exemption it must engage primarily in activities that accomplish one of more of its tax-exempt purposes. In addition, the Organization will conduct periodic reviews of its activities to ensure that its activities in the aggregate promote its exempt purposes.

The board of directors set the salary for the executive director. The board of directors has business knowledge in various areas of business and used this knowledge to set salaries. The salaries for the other drug free pennsylvania employees are set by the executive director with the input from the board of directors. The salaries are set using the broad approved annual budget.

Financial Statement Notes

Part X : FIN48 Footnote

Generally accepted accounting principles require accounting and recognition for tax positions taken or expected to be taken in the Organization's income tax returns. The income tax filings are subject to audit by various taxing authorities. The Organization's open audit periods are 2012-2014. In evaluating the Organization's tax provisions and accruals, future taxable income, the reversal of temporary differences, the Organization's tax exempt status and tax planning strategies are considered. The Organization believes their estimates are appropriate based on current facts and circumstances.
