“The board treasurer, foundation president, and finance committee review the form 990 in detail. The return is sent to all board members before filing.”
“By way of adherence to upmc policies, passavant hospital foundation requires key employes and non-employed personnel to comply with its conflicts of interest policies when they engage in foundation business. People covered by the policy within passavant hospital foundation include: 1) board members, 2) board committee members, 3) corporate officers, and 4) key employees. These people are required to complete a questionnaire at least annually, which along with other data is used to identify possible individual and institutional conflicts of interest. If a possible conflict of interest is identified regarding a specific foundation activity, the upmc corporate compliance department, with the assistance of the upmc legal department, helps to develop a written plan designed to prevent the conflict from influencing decisions related to that activity. The process is ultimately overseen by a conflict of interest committee of the upmc board of directors on behalf of upmc and all of its subsidiaries.”

BEYOND BRIDGE TO HOPE IS A MONTHLY BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP FOR ADULT FAMILY MEMBERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE LOSS OF A LOVED ONE DUE TO DRUG OR ALCOHOL ABUSE. FAMILIES ARE VETTED THROUGH HOSPITAL'S CARE MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT. 2) BAIERL FAMILY YMCA ($10,000) FOR CARDIAC REHAB MAINTENANCE: A 12 WEEK CUSTOMIZED EXERCISE PLAN UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF A CERTIFIED PERSONAL TRAINER, UPON RELEASE FROM HOSPITAL REHABILITATION. 3) CRISIS CENTER NORTH ($17,313) FOR LETHALITY ASSESSMENT PROGRAM: EQUIPPING AND TRAINING TWO LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENTS IN THE MARYLAND COORDINATED COMMUNITY RESPONSE MODEL FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, IN COOPERATION WITH THE HOSPITAL'S DOMESTIC VIOLENCE TASK FORCE. 4) AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION ($22,360) FOR CPR IN SCHOOLS: TRAINING PROGRAM IN MIDDLE SCHOOLS AT SIX LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICTS.
