“Membership in the builders association of metropolitan pittsburgh consists of the following classes: 1) builder membership shall be open to any person, firm, or corporation whose principal business is building or real estate development within the territorial jurisdiction of this association, who shall subscribe to the code of ethics, and who is of good character and business reputation, and has been actively building for a period of at least two years or in the judgement of the board of directors has sufficient experience, and shall receive two-thirds vote of the board of directors; 2) associate membership shall be open to any person, firm or corporation engaged in any related trade, industry or profession within the territorial jurisdiction of this association who shall receive two-thirds vote of the board of directors; 3) allied membership shall be extended to any person, firm or corporation who does not qualify for membership under the builder or associate membership categories, subject to two-thirds vote of the board of directors. Such allied members shall not have voting rights in the association, but can serve on committees. 4) retired membership shall be open to any builder, associate, or allied member who previously was an active member of bamp prior to retirement, subject to two-thirds vote of the board of directors. 5) the association offers council members who are previously designated to the classes above additional membership who engages in remodeler, professional women in business, sales marketing, 55+ housing, and multi-family.”

“Members elect officers at the annual meeting subject to a majority vote by a quorum of voting members (thirty members).”

“An unsigned copy is presented to the executive committee for signature by the treasurer or executive director. Signed copies are provided to the president and treasurer who report the documents have been filed with the proper governmental authorities to the full board of directors and which are available for review to those requesting a copy.”

“Directors are required to annually sign the acknowledgement of the conflict of interest policy and disclose any conflict of interest that may arise prior to any discussion, deliberation or official action. Persons with a conflict of interest are prohibited from participating in discussion or votes.”

“Officers are uncompensated volunteers. The executive director compensation is determined by the executive committee using a survey of similar organizations provided by the affiliated national organizations and other deliberations considering met and unmet program goals and objectives.”

“The organization makes all public filings available upon request by a third party.”
