The mission was changed to include the bach choir's bel canto youth chorus. See core form i-iii 1. The new mission will be incorporated into the by-laws after july 1, 2018, which is the effective date of the merger of the bel canto youth chorus with the bach choir.

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7A

Memebers (singers) of the bach choir elect four choir representatives to the board to be voting members of the board for a limit of two consecutive two-year terms.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

The 990 is reviewed in its entirety by the authorized finance committee of the board. The 990 is then distributed to the entire board in the packet for the september board meeting. This is for review prior to the 990 being filed with the irs.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

This policy applies to board members, staff and certain volunteers of the bach choir, referred collectively to as "interested parties" hereafter. A volunteer is covered under this policy if that person has been granted independent decision making authority with respect to monies, events, property, activities or other resources of the bach choir. This determination shall be made by the executive director. It is the policy of the bach choir that an interested party disclose in advance in detail any of his or her activities or interests that may conflict or appear to conflict with the bach choir's best interest. Any interested party knowingly violating this policy is subject to actions which may include reprimand, suspension, or dismissal from his or her current position with the bach choir. All interested parties will complete a compliance statement, each year stating that they have read, understood, and complied with this policy. The president of the board of managers and the executive director are primarily responsible for administering this policy.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

The authorized personnel committee of the board annually reviews the compensation for the executive director (ed) and artistic director and conductor of the the bach choir (adc) as well as other staff positions. Compensation is regularly reviewed against comparability data with substantiation of deliberaton and decision. Compensation of the ed and adc is recommended by the personnel committee to the full board for approval before the budget for the following fiscal year, including total employment, is approved by the board.

The mission of the bach choir of bethlehem and its bach festival orchestra is to perform the works of johann sebastian bach and to promote and encourage appreciation of the aesthetic and spiritual value of bach's music, while striving for the highest standards of musical excellence. This mission is to be achieved by engaging our audience--locally, nationally, and internationally--through education and performance, including works by composers who influenced bach and were influenced by him, and the programs of our bel canto youth chorus. Together, we cultivate a lifelong passion for the choral arts.

PART X, LINE 2:

Bach choir of bethlehem is an organization recognized as exempt from federal and state income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code and similar state statutes. No provision for income taxes has been reflected in the accompanying financial statements. For the year ended june 30, 2018, the organization did not identify any uncertain tax positions taken or expected to be taken, which would require adjustments or disclosure in the financial statements. The organization is potentially subject to federal, state and local examinations for years subsequent to june 30, 2014.
