“The main purpose of the organization is to provide financial support to local charities and other fund raising activities. To qualify for membership, you must be of italian descent or married to a person of italian descent. 10% of the membership can be of non italian descent. Examples of organizations that received financial contributions from the organization: swissvale food bank swissvale borough swissvale youth baseball swissvale library light of life rescue mission st bernadette church st john fisher church good shepherd church word of god church madonna dell castella church greater pittsburgh food bank jubilee soup kitchen greater pittsburgh community food bank isda fraternal association kdka turkey fund salvation army the organization provides annual scholarships to children of members to help further their education. The organization sometimes donates to swissvale borough depending on the type of fund raiser. In the past, the organization has made donations for local and national disaster relief. The organization trys to support any local organization in need that can demonstrate a need. The organization annually supports two major membership functions: 1) annual membership family picnic 2) annual memorial mass and banquet in memory of deceased members if any member has an idea as to an organization that needs some form of financial help, the member brings their request to the officers and the officers vote as to whether or not the organization will make any monetary donation. The officers of the organization meet seven times per year. The offices of the organization are located at the swissvale senior citizens center located in swissvale, pa. The national organization of order italian sons and daughters of america makes available various insurances and annuities purchased by members outside of the organization.”
