“Had more than 19,000 per-student visits, including on-site for an educational field trip and offsite when we take our educational message into the classroom, along with our live animals, artifacts and educators. These experiential learning opportunities enrich the schools' science curriculum, address the pennsylvania state standards for science and technology, environment and ecology, while they provide fun, hands-on leaning opportunities for students to connect with the natural world. Outreach to children/access to nature is riverbends' program for schools in norristown, conshohocken, bridgeport, and philadelphia, serving students living in low-income, urban communities with little or no access to the natural world. In 2014, this program served a total of 4,295 individual students and comprised 65% of total per-student visits. Riverbend's summer camp is our longest running (over 30 years) and most well-known program. It is a day camp that runs all summer long for children ages 3-13 and serves approximately 80 children each week. Additionally, riverbend offers year-round camps on school holidays. In addition to the above mentioned programs, riverbend offers a kindergarten enrichment program for the school year, scout programs, birthday parties, and family public programs.”

“As required by the fasb accounting standards codification, entities are required to determine whether it is more likely than not that a tax position will be sustained upon examination by the appropriate taxing authorities before any part of the benefit can be recorded in the financial statements. It also provides guidance on the recognition, measurement, and classification of income tax uncertainties, along with any related interest or penalties. This standard had no impact on the center's financial statements. The center's federal tax return is subject to audit by taxing authorities. The center's returns open audit periods are for the fiscal years ending december 31, 2011-2013.”
