Mission

The mission of the catskill symphony orchestra is to entertain, educate, and inspire audiences of all ages by presenting a professional ensemble of the highest artistic quality performing the full range of symphonic literature. The orchestra also seeks to broaden the availability and appreciation of symphonic music in oneonta and surrounding communities, and to provide a challenging environment for talented regional musicians.

To provide a predictable stream of funding to programs supported by its endowment while seeking to maintain the purchasing power or the endowment assets.

The catskill symphony orchestra, inc. Is a tax-exempt organization under section 501 (c) (3) of the internal revenue code and similar new york state laws and, as such, is not subject to federal or state income taxes. In addition, the symphony qualifies for the charitable contribution deduction under section 170 (b) (a) (2) and has been classified as an organization other than a private foundation under section 509 (a) (2). The symphony reviews the components of revenues, gains, and other support and analyzes whether the position that the symphony takes with regard to a particular item of income would meet the definition of an uncertain tax position under gaap. The symphony files information returns in the u.s. Federal jurisdiction. The symphony is no longer subject to u.s. Federal information return examinations for years before 2006.
