The conflict of interest statement is aimed at determining any family and business relationships and transactions or other transactions that may pose a potential conflict. The annual statements are reviewed by the president and chief financial officer who monitor proposed or ongoing transactions for conflicts of interest. Any potential or actual conflicts are disclosed to the chair of the board of trustees in order to address them appropriately. A determination is then made to: (a)take no action; (b)assure full disclosure to the board of trustees and other individuals covered by the policy; (c)ask the member or staff person to recuse from participation in related discussions or decisions; or (d)ask the person to resign from his or her position on the board or if the person refuses to resign, become subject to possible removal. All are employees of the university of california, riverside and are compensated by the university. Senior management including the chancellor, are compensated in accordance with university of california regents' policy 7701. A number of factors are considered in determining fair and reasonable compensation including: performance,peer comparability data, external market comparabilty, scope and breadth of experience and responsibilities. Compensation of the chancellor is approved by the regents.”
