“| Explanation:| Form 990 Part III Line 1 Organizational Mission The purposes for which this corporation has been organized are as follows: The Richard Tucker Music Foundation is a non-profit cultural organization dedicated to the support and advancement of the careers of promising and talented American opera singers perpetuating the artistic legacy of the great American tenor Richard Tucker and bringing opera to the community. In addition the Foundation seeks to heighten the publics awareness of the art of opera through performances master classes and radio television and streaming events. The Foundation also supports other opera and cultural institutions and organizations. Through awards and grants for study performance opportunities and other career-enhancing activities the Foundation provides professional development for singers at several levels of career-readiness: - The Sara Tucker Study Grants provide grants to singers selected through a vocal competition who are recently out of conservatory or in young artist development programs and are considered to be at the beginning of promising careers. - The Richard Tucker Career Grants provide grants to promising singers selected through a vocal competition who have begun professional careers and who have already performed roles with opera companies nationally or internationally. - The Richard Tucker Award is conferred annually upon a single artist who has reached a high level of artistic accomplishment and who in the opinion of the judging panel is on the threshold of a major international career. In 202 and 2021 as a result of the pandemic The Foundation was forced to suspend its auditions grants and concert program Responding to the needs of young artists who were without work the Foundation gave relief grants to recent winners of awards and promoted their work on social media channels. Form 990 Part III Line 4a Program Service Accomplishments The foremost measures of the Foundations effectiveness lie in the professional accomplishments of the recipients of its grants and awards the willingness of the organization to support potential as well as proven artistic talent and the opportunities for growth the Foundation can provide to singers at many levels of career development. The annual Richard Tucker Gala concert which is held at Carnegie Hall and broadcast of radio and internationally web streamed is a central program and the primary fund-raising vehicle of the Foundation. Through this concert the message of the Foundation is carries to a wide audience and the Richard Tucker Award winner and other grant recipients are showcased in the company of a distinguished cast of international stars. Other programs of the Foundation include master classes and concerts in a variety of community setting which provide performance opportunities and recognition for award winners and enrich the cultural life of the communities in which they take place. The work of the Tucker Foundation is guided by a Board of Directors whose members include leaders in business education and the arts. The Board which is committed to strengthening the cultural life of New York City and the metropolitan region provides intellectual financial and artistic counsel to the Foundations management from a variety of perspectives and generates a network of support for the organization from the associations and constituencies its members represent.
