To teach self-sufficiency and independence to enable each individual served to maximize his or her potential while becoming an active and contributing member of the community.

To provide a broad spectrum of services for developmentally disabled adults, who are primarily residents of san mateo county and north santa clara county.

The form 990 and related schedules are reviewed and approved by the audit committee before filing.

Form 990, Part VI, Line 12C: Explanation of Monitoring and Enforcement of Conflicts

The organization regularly and consistently monitors and enforces compliance with the conflict of interest policy. A conflict of interest questionnaire and a disclosure form is distributed to members of the board of directors at the first board meeting each year. Directors complete and return the questionnaire and disclosure form. The executive director, appointed by the board of trustees, reviews and determines if any conflicts of interest exist and takes the appropriate action as outlined in the organization's conflict of interest policy.

The board of directors reviews and approves the executive director's and other officers' compensation utilizing comparable data from a local or statewide survey of non-profit employee compensation and performance measures. Compensation adjustments are approved by the board of directors on an annual basis.

The organization is a not-for-profit organization that is exempt from income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code and under section 23701(d) of the california revenue and taxation code.
