Activity 2

Fish forever is a global initiative to restore near-shore fisheries in the developing tropics. Together with global partners, rare will unleash the motivation and pride of local fishing communities. The initiative will mentor local leaders, boost social cohesion and empower fishers to develop community-based management systems. Fish forever will also foster the conditions necessary for widespread adoption of the approach. Recovered fisheries have the potential to provide an important food source to hundreds of millions of the worlds poorest. Based on the demonstrated success of this approach, fishers will earn more and leave more fish in the sea. In the process, coastal communities will safeguard coral reefs, mangroves and sea grasses while creating a natural buffer against climatechange.

Public information - rare used social marketing and public education to inspire more environmentally sustainable behaviors to millions of people throughout the developing tropics (home to more than 50% of the world's biodiversity) -including everything from classroom education to adult training to festivals, pop songs, radio shows, press, lobbying, advertising, and other outreach activities for all ages.
