Financial Statement Notes

Schedule D, Part II, Line 3

Each easement has a management plan that specifies goals, the monitoring, inspection, reporting of violations, and easement defense. There are specific forms to be completed for each monitoring visit. These are included in the easement documents and the land policy.

Schedule D, Part II, Line 9

The foundation holds conservation easements placed on properties acceptable to the foundation. At june 30, 2018 42 such easements were held. No value has been assigned to these easements in the financial statements because the foundation does not have ownership rights to the undelrying property.

The foundation holds a property tax escrow for taxes accrued prior to purchase of a land preservation property.

Schedule D, Part X, Line 2

The foundation is a not-for-profit organization that is exempt from income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code. The foundation has also elected application of section 501(h) which permits the foundation to conduct limited lobbying. The foundation recognizes the financial statement impact of a tax position when it is more likely than not that the position will be sustained upon examination. It is no longer subject to federal and state income tax examinations by tax authorities for years before the year ended june 30, 2015.
