“The form 990 was prepared by the outside accountants and reviewed by the president. A copy of the form 990 was sent to all current directors of the board with a request for any comments or suggestions before it was filed. After comments were received and processed, a final copy was sent to the entire board and filed with the irs.”
“Each board member, principal officer and key employee annually signs a statement which affirms such person has received a copy of the conflict of interest policy, has read and understands the policy, has agreed to comply with the policy, and understands fas is charitable and in order to maintain its federal tax exemption it must engage primarily in activities which accomplish one or more of its tax-exempt purposes. If a conflict occurs, the organization addresses the conflict using the following procedures: an interested person may make a presentation at the governing board or committee meeting, but after the presentation, he/she leaves the meeting during the discussion of, and the vote on, the transaction or arrangement involving the possible conflict of interest. The chairperson of the governing board or committee, if appropriate, appoints a disinterested person or committee to investigate alternatives to the proposed transaction or arrangement. After exercising due diligence, the governing board or committee determines whether fas can obtain with reasonable efforts a more advantageous transaction or arrangement from a person or entity that would not give rise to a conflict of interest. If a more advantageous transaction or arrangement is not reasonably possible under circumstances not producing a conflict of interest, the governing board or committee determines by a majority vote of the disinterested board members whether the transaction or arrangement is in fas's best interest, for its own benefit, and whether it is fair and reasonable. In conformity with the above determination it makes its decision as to whether to enter into the transaction or arrangement. If the governing board or committee has reasonable cause to believe a member has failed to disclose actual or possible conflicts of interest, it informs the member of the basis for such belief and affords the member an opportunity to explain the alleged failure to disclose. If, after hearing the member's response and after making further investigation as warranted by the circumstances, the governing board or committee determines the member has failed to disclose an actual or possible conflict of interest, it takes appropriate disciplinary and corrective action.”
“The audit and finance committee will review the current salary of the president and determine compensation for the following year using data that provides comparable compensation for similarly qualified persons in functionally comparable positions at similarly situated organizations. All records and information of the process are documented in the committee's file. The last compensation review took place in september 2014. The audit and finance committee will review the current salary of key employees and determine compensation for the following year using data that provides comparable compensation for similarly qualified persons in functionally comparable positions at similarly situated organizations. All records and information of the process are documented in the audit committee file.”
“The organization makes its governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements available to the public upon request.”
“The organization ceased conducting its learning technologies and arm sales programs.”
“Research consultants: program service expenses 287,751. Management and general expenses 1,500. Fundraising expenses 0. Total expenses 289,251.”
“Endowment funds are to remain on deposit with earnings to be used for program or operational expenses at the discretion of leadership.”
“For the year ended june 30, 2015, fas has documented its consideration of fasb asc 740-10, income taxes, that provides guidance for reporting uncertainty in income taxes and has determined that no material uncertain tax positions qualify for either recognition or disclosure in the financial statements. The federal form 990, return of organization exempt from income tax, is subject to examination by the internal revenue service, generally for three years after it is filed.”
“Rental expenses reported as expenses on the financial statements and netted against revenue on form 990, part viii, line 6b 261,605.”

| IRS990/Desc | 0 | NUCLEAR SECURITY: THE NUCLEAR INFORMATION PROJECT COVERS NUCLEAR WEAPONS AND ARMS CONTROL AND THE NUCLEAR FUEL CYCLE. THE PROJECT PROVIDES THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND POLICY-MAKERS WITH INFORMATION AND ANALYSIS ON THE STATUS, NUMBER, AND OPERATION OF NUCLEAR WEAPONS, THE POLICIES THAT GUIDE THEIR POTENTIAL USE AND NUCLEAR ARMS CONTROL. THE PROJECT IS, ACCORDING TO THE WASHINGTON POST, "ONE OF THE MOST WIDELY SOURCED AGENCIES FOR NUCLEAR WARHEAD COUNTS." NUCLEAR WEAPONS DATA ARE BASED ON OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS, TESTIMONIES AND PREVIOUSLY UNDISCLOSED INFORMATION OBTAINED THROUGH THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT, AS WELL AS INDEPENDENT ANALYSIS OF COMMERCIAL SATELLITE IMAGES.THE PROJECT REPORTS ON DEVELOPMENTS IN THE NUCLEAR FUEL CYCLE THAT ARE RELEVANT TO NUCLEAR WEAPONS PROLIFERATION. BOTH URANIUM ENRICHMENT FOR NUCLEAR REACTOR FUEL AND SEPARATION OF PLUTONIUM FROM SPENT REACTOR FUEL CAN PRODUCE FISSIONABLE MATERIAL FOR NUCLEAR BOMBS. THE PROJECT PUTS TECHNICAL INFORMATION INTO A NONPROLIFERATION CONTEXT AND LOOKS AT CASE STUDIES BY CONDUCTING INDEPENDENT CALCULATIONS AND ANALYSES. |

FAS HAS ALSO USED THE TECHNIQUES OF DIALOGUE AND DELIBERATION IN CONVENING PEOPLE WITH DIVERSE PERSPECTIVES TO WRESTLE WITH COMPLEX SUBJECTS SUCH AS REGIONAL COOPERATION AMONG JAPAN, SOUTH KOREA, AND THE UNITED STATES IN NUCLEAR WASTE DISPOSAL AND IMPROVEMENTS IN NUCLEAR PLANT SAFETY. IN EFFECT, FAS HAS SOUGHT TO SERVE AS A BRIDGE BETWEEN TECHNICAL AND POLICY MAKING COMMUNITIES. TECHNICAL ANALYSIS ALONE WILL NOT RESULT IN POSITIVE CHANGE. |
