“The association was formed to promote the improvement of programs and curriculum in schools grades 1 to 12, and at the college and graduate level through communication, including newsletters and at the annual conference. Both methods improve the exchange of ideas between science educators and the state. The association also encourages the highest professional standards and practices. This is done through a legislative committee who acts as science education's voice to the policy makers in pennsylvania. Psta seeks out exceptional science talent in students and teachers in all levels of instruction. The organization encourages active participation in all science personnel in the solution of societal problems. Psta promotes a spirit of professional ethics and cooperation among science educators working with the pennsylvania academy of science and local groups. Psta encourages research and experimentation in scientific projects by means of local science fairs, school science clubs, junior academies of science and programs for science teachers.”

“In order to achieve the goals of psta as set forth in the organisation's primary exempt purpose, the psta presently carries on seminars, writes and distributes newsletters, and promotes the attendence of its members at the national science teachers association convention. All expenses incurred by the psta are for the purpose of accomplishing their goals as stated in the organization's primary exempt purpose statement.”
