Activity 2

Membership departmentthe ymca is a membership based, charitable, community service organization dedicated to helping people build healthy spirit, mind, and body through programs and memberships. We welcome and serve all people regardless of age, income, race, religion, gender, or ability to pay. Membership to the ymca enables people to utilize equipment and facilities designed specifically for improving personal health and wellness goals. Ymca staff assists and leads members through training on use of equipment and by assisting them with setting realistic goals. The ymca is a recreational and community hub in our town. People gather to socialize and feel a great sense of belonging at the ymca. All programs are open to nonmembers, as well. Financial assistance is available to anyone unable to afford membership fees. The ymca is utilized by dozens of community groups, agencies, governments, schools, churches, clubs, and more for a vast variety of activities and events. The ymca served 16,499 members in 2011 and offered 7 sessions of programs throughout the calendar year.

Activity 3

Gymnastics departmenthanover ymca gymnastics program develops children in our community physically, mentally, and socially. Our program fosters physical development by guiding children through strength and flexibility exercises, balance exercises, motor skill development exercises, cardiovascular exercises, tactile and kinesthetic awareness, and artistic gymnastics skills. Our program mentally stimulates children by requiring focus for an extended period of time to master specific skill goals and by supplementing classroom learning with physical examples. We teach reading (lateral movement, visual tracking), math (counting, patterns, addition and subtraction), music (rhythm, tempo, choreography). We also teach mental discipline and fortitude in our team programs. We also teach social skills like how to be a part of a team, how to function in a classroom environment, how to share, how to be a member of a line, and how to take turns. These skills are reinforced in age appropriate skill level classes and team programs for children ages 12 months-18 years. Our program is divided into three key groups: preschool, developmental class, and team. Our preschool program is our base. In this program, we help children ages 12 months-4 years explore their world through movement, rhythm, and sensory perception. Our developmental class program expands on the skills developed in our preschool program to introduce the fundamentals of artistic gymnastics to children ages 4 and up. Children in developmental class progress through our rainbow achievement program, which allows them to acquire and demonstrate proficiency at skills on their level before moving on to tackle more challenging skills. Our team and pre-team programs are available by invitation only to children ages 4-18. We offer both men's & women's levels 4-10 of usa gymnastics, bronze and silver levels of usaigc gymnastics, and all all-star cheer for ages 8-18.we also offer specialty programs including bus-in gymnastics, tumbling classes, cheer classes, open gyms, preschool field trips and birthday parties. These programs provide a gymnastics sampler or special service designed to attract a more narrow audience. Clients served: - preschool total session sign-ups for 2012 = 947 - developmental class total session sign-ups for 2012 = 1047 - team and pre-team individuals served for 2012 = 197 - specialty individuals served for 2012 = 1488 (includes birthdays,field trips, bus-in and open gym)
