Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 1

The Executive Committee has the power to transact all regular business of the corporation during the interim between the meetings of the Board of Directors, provided that any action which it may take shall not conflict with the policies of the Board of Directors. The Executive Committee is comprised of the President, Chairman of the Board, and two other Directors appointed by the Board.

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 4

The organization added a conflict of interest policy to the by-laws.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11

The Form 990 is prepared and reviewed by an independent CPA firm. The Form 990 is also reviewed by management and is provided to every member of the governing body prior to filing with the IRS.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12C

Each board member, officer, and member of senior management of the corporation, including related entities, complete an annual conflict of interest questionnaire. The signed questionnaires are reviewed by the board. If a conflist should arise at a board meeting, the individual with the conflict would be excused during the process of board deliberation and would abstain from voting.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 15A

The Board of Directors, composed of independent persons, reviews the compensation package of the CEO using market comparability data for similar organizations. The board votes on the proposed compensation package as part of the annual budget process. This process is documented in the corporate minutes and was last completed during the fiscal year. Form 990, Part VI, Line 15b: The organization does not compensate any other officers or key employees. Therefore, this question was answered no in accordance with the instructions.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, line 19

The organization's governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements are available to the public upon request.

Form 990, Part VII

Compensation reported in Part VII, column D is the amount reported on the individual's W-2, box 1 or 5 (whichever amount is greater) per the IRS instructions. In the case of minister's compensation when box 5 of the W-2 is not applicable, box 1 compensation is used. Employee deferrals to qualified retirement plans are normally captured in box 5, not box 1 of Form W-2. For reporting purposes we have included the employee's retirement plan deferrals in Part VII, column F.

Additional Explanations

Form 990, Page 12, Part XII, Line 2C:

The organization has a committee that assumes responsibility for oversight of the audit of its financial statements and selection of an independent accountant. This process has not changed since the prior year.

Financial Statement Notes

Part X, Line 2:

The financial statement effects of a tax position taken or expected to be taken are recognized in the combined financial statements when it is more likely than not, based on the technical merits, that the position will be sustained upon examination. Interest and penalties, if any, are included in expenses in the combined statements of activities. As of March 31, 2015 and 2014, ICI had no uncertain tax positions that qualify for recognition or disclosure in the combined financial statements. ICI files information tax returns in the U.S. and various states. ICI is generally no longer subject to U.S. federal and state income tax examinations by tax authorities for years before 2012.

IRS990/Desc0Clubs, outings, and activities: We run after-school programs that are focused on providing an alternative to children and youth as well as teaching them the Word of God. We have an average of 265 children per week that attend our various clubs. At the clubs, the children are given a chance to play games, do crafts, and learn about the Bible. During the year we also provide various special events for the kids that consist of special days in our building or taking kids to events. We had over 1300 children attend the special events in our building where we informed them about how they could become involved in our programs that we run. We also had an event we took the kids to once a month which averaged 53 children per event. Each of these are focused on spending time with children and providing a fun experience for them.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0Camp: The camping ministry is designed to provide a focused time for children to hear about God's Word without distractions of the city and to experience and enjoy God's creation. Camping trips range from daily getaways to week long overnight trips to a seven week daycamp program. This year we had 211 different children attend the daycamp program with an average of 85 per day. We had 40 children go on day trips to go tubing or skiing behind a speed boat. We took 140 children on weeklong overnight camping trips. We took 189 children on overnight camping trips to various campgrounds. On each camping trip there were Bible lessons that were taught to the kids.

IRS990ScheduleD/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0The financial statement effects of a tax position taken or expected to be taken are recognized in the combined financial statements when it is more likely than not, based on the technical merits, that the position will be sustained upon examination.
