Hrrc's programs help residents in difficult financial situations. Without such assistance, homes would go unrepaired, and deterioration and blight would occur. Under the financial assistance programs, the challenge fund assists those who could not otherwise obtain a bank loan; and assist (with its 0% benefit, incentive grant, senior grant and deferred loan match) makes repairs more affordable for residents with low-moderate incomes and helps homeowners with tailored technical assistance and post-purchase housing counseling even when direct benefit grants and or loan funds are unavailable. The senior repair program educates elderly homeowners to identify needed repairs and empowers them to deal successfully with contractors, so their homes remain in a safe and secure condition. While project repair and home how-to are open to all, these programs are particularly beneficial to persons who presently cannot finance repairs or who need to maximize their home repair dollars, because it enables them to accomplish repairs for the cost of materials alone. Moreover, hrrc's repair education programs foster do-it-yourself preventive maintenance that, in turn, helps avoid structural damage and more-costly repairs down the road (example: roof repair or tuck-pointing accomplished when the task is small). Through "hands-on" workshops, the program builds confidence and capability in residents who have little experience in home repair (e.g., female heads of house and first-time homeowners) the benefits of hrrc's programs and activities extend beyond the individuals served to the community at large. Project repair and home how- to offer classes that bring together people from various neighborhoods, with a diversity of backgrounds and needs, to learn new repair skills. The financial assistance programs, by enabling individual residents to repair their homes, encourage neighbors to make similar investments in their own properties. Along with our home repair programs, we offer a hud-approved financial education and counseling program that prepares citizens to make educated decisions regarding budgeting, credit, home buying and refinance. A special curriculum has been developed to educate prospective homebuyers and prepare them to be responsible owners. Hrrc works to combat foreclosure through foreclosure prevention and intervention counseling. Special projects (such as the home remodeling fair and the housemender university and practical sustainability lecture series) and advocacy on housing issues also benefit the community. By thus maintaining the condition of housing, hrrc's programs create community confidence, increase housing values and help support social, racial and economic diversity in cleveland heights and the larger region.”
“Repair education: various professionals who work in the field, volunteer to teach our repair education offerings. We prepare instructors with an agenda and use their expertise to instruct participants how to complete home repairs. Office area: community members volunteer time weekly and perform various office tasks such as filing, copying, answering phone, etc. All volunteer board members supervise the organizations daily operations and ensures the contimued success of the organiation's exempt mission.”
“Financial assistance program/project repair/library - home repair resource center provides a variety of programs that assist homeowners in making repairs to their homes. The financial assistance program offers grants for low- and moderate-income homeowners to make borrowing for repairs more affordable, and a loan guarantee program that makes bank financing possible for homeowners of all incomes who could not otherwise qualify for conventional loans. Project repair provides a comprehensive series of hands-on workshops for homeowners regardless of income and residence. It also includes a low-fee tool loan program for low-moderate income homeowners so that homeowners can tackle repairs on a do-self basis. Hrrc's library provides handouts, videos, and contractor evaluations so that homeowners know how to get high-quality repair work. In addition, hrrc staff regularly assist homeowners with project planning, resources, and technical assistance with home repair and maintenance projects.”

“Hrrc complies with fasb asc 740-accounting for uncertainty in income taxes. Fasb asc 740 details how companies should recognize, measure, present and disclose uncertain tax positions that have been or are expected to be taken. As such, the financial statements would reflect expected future tax consequences of uncertain tax positions presuming the taxing authorities' full knowledge of the position and all relevant facts, if they existed. Management believes that there are no uncertain tax positions. Hrrc's tax years that remain subject to examination by the internal revenue service are june 30, 2017 and forward.”

THE ORGANIZATION FOCUSES ON OWNER-OCCUPIED, ONE- AND TWO-FAMILY HOMES. HRRC'S PROGRAMS RECOGNIZE THE SPECIAL NEEDS OF LOW-MODERATE INCOME (LMI) HOMEOWNERS AND PROVIDE INCENTIVES TO ENCOURAGE AND ENABLE THEIR PARTICIPATION. PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED TO PREVENT DETERIORATION AND BLIGHT AND TO ENCOURAGE REHABILITION, IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN THE CONDITION AND VALUE OF HOUSING IN THE COMMUNITY. HRRC ALSO SERVES AS A HUD-APPROVED COUNSELING AGENCY TO PROVIDE HOUSING COUNSELING (INCLUDING FINANCIAL EDUCATION AND HOME BUYER EDUCATION) AND FORECLOSURE INTERVENTION. BY THUS MAINTAINING THE CONDITION OF HOUSING, HRRC'S PROGRAMS CREATE COMMUNITY CONFIDENCE, INCREASE HOUSING VALUES AND HELP SUPPORT SOCIAL, RACIAL AND ECONOMIC DIVERSITY IN CLEVELAND HEIGHTS AND THE LARGER REGION. |
