Financial Statement Notes

Part X : FIN48 Footnote

The Housing Authority is exempt from income taxes on income substantially related to the organization's exempt purpose under Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code. Any organization receiving such a status is automatically exempt from Colorado income taxes.The Housing Authority adopted the provisions for FASB ASC 740-10 regarding income tax guidance. The federal income tax returns prior to fiscal year 2013 are closed. The Housing Authoritys policy for evaluating uncertain income tax positions is to only take income tax positions that are more likely than not to be sustained if the taxing authorities were to examine the positions. If applicable, the Housing Authority classifies interest and penalties as interest expense.

The federal income tax returns prior to fiscal year 2013 are closed. The Housing Authoritys policy for evaluating uncertain income tax positions is to only take income tax positions that are more likely than not to be sustained if the taxing authorities were to examine the positions. If applicable, the Housing Authority classifies interest and penalties as interest expense.
