The organization annually participates in a statewide compensation comparison survey of community health centers and uses this data to set compensation for most staff positions. The cfo compensation is determined by the executive committee on a semi-annual basis. The compensation process involves salary comparisons, performance reviews, and budget considerations. FORM 990, PART III, LINE 1, DESCRIPTION OF ORGANIZATION MISSION:

Valley community clinic (vcc) is a non-profit comprehensive neighborhood health center in the san fernando valley, providing patient-centered primary medical care and related health services to help individuals and their families get well, stay well and live a healthy life, regardless of their ability to pay. Founded in 1970 as the "family doctor" for the valley's working poor and other uninsured, vcc today serves nearly 25,000 low-income patients who utilize more than 75,000 annual patient visits at its main campus in north hollywood and at 2 satellite locations. Vcc makes a difference in thousands of lives each year by providing cost-effective, quality health care and specialty programs to those who otherwise would have nowhere to turn for medical care and advice. The mission of vcc is to enhance the well-being of the community by providing high quality, culturally sensitive primary medical care and related health services to those in need, regardless of their ability to pay. Supplementing its primary care, vcc also provides chronic disease management, optometry, dental, nutrition education, pediatrics, women's health, prenatal, mental health and counseling services, a nationally recognized youth/teen education program and wellness education. Vcc's model of care, education and culturally sensitive programs is designed to promote wellness and preventative care for the entire san fernando valley community, helping deliver better patient outcomes, more cost-effective services and a stronger healthcare system.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

In june 2006, the fasb issued asc topic no. 740-10, formerly fasb interpretation no. ("fin") 48, "accounting for uncertainty in income taxes, an interpretation of fasb statement no. 109" ("asc 740-10"), which clarifies the accounting for uncertainty in income taxes. Asc 740-10 prescribes a recognition threshold and measurement attribute for the financial statement recognition and measurement of a tax position taken or expected to be taken in a tax return. Asc 740-10 requires that an organization recognize in the financial statements the impact of the tax position if that position will more likely than not be sustained on audit, based on the technical merits of the position. Asc 740-10 also provides guidance related to de-recognition, classification, interest and penalties and disclosure. During the year ended june 30, 2014, the clinic performed an evaluation of uncertain tax positions and did not note any matters that would require recognition in the financial statements or which may have an effect on its taxexempt status. The clinic's income tax returns are subject to examination for all tax years ended on or after june 30, 2010 with regards to all tax positions and the results reported.
