Activity 2

The self sufficiency division provides services in two major areas. Foster care services are provided for abused and neglected children who are referred by local children's services agencies and juvenile courts. The independent living program provides supervised apartment living for youth who are aging out of foster care or group homes services without having a suitable living arrangement. This program offers an opportunity for the youth to experience apartment living with the guidance of an independent living staff member as a step toward self sufficiency. There were 381 individuals served.

Activity 3

The home based services division focuses on youth and includes therapists, case managers and life coaches with an enormous breadth of specialization such as very young children, autistic children and children with severe behavior disorders. Services are designed so that children and youth can maintain a single therapist or small group of workers, who transition with them, as they journey through various settings such as school, work, and home. The unifying idea behind these services is that lighthouse youth services will do whatever it can to help children and youth remain safely in their homes or transition through the juvenile justice/child welfare systems. In addition, the real dads program addresses deficits in parenting, employment and life skills to help fathers become self sustaining and reliable fathers. These programs served over 1000 individuals.
