“The form 990 is prepared by the council's cpa firm and is reviewed by the council's president and the audit committee of the council's board of directors. Once approved by the audit committee, the completed form 990 is sent to all board members prior to filing.”
“A copy of the conflict of interest policy is given to the board of directors and all staff members annually and is also available on the council's website. A conflict of interest disclosure statement is obtained annually from all board and staff members. When any conflict of interest is relevant to a matter requiring action by the board of directors, the interested person shall call it to the attention of the board of directors and the director concerned shall not vote on the matter. Moreover, the person having a conflict shall retire from the room in which the board is meeting and may not participate in the final deliberation or decision regarding the matter under consideration. However, that person may provide the board or committee with any and all relevant information before retiring. The minutes of the meeting of the board or committee shall reflect that the conflict of interest was disclosed and that the interested person was not present during the final discussion or vote and did not vote. When there is a doubt as to whether a conflict of interest exists, the matter shall be resolved by a vote of the board of directors, excluding the person whose situation will be discussed.”

“For grantmakers; and the connecticut philanthropy digest. Education and professional development - during 2015, the council supported more than 67 programs and meetings for more than 1,200 attendees focused on promoting and supporting effective philanthropy. These include programs and workshops on issues and trends in the field or of interest to funders as well as skill building sessions. The programs are delivered in locations around the state to ensure accessibility and networking for grantmakers throughout the state. The council currently supports four affinity groups focused on: aging, early childhood education and workforce. Connections among grantmakers and others - the council provides opportunities for grantmakers with common roles or geography to come together to share knowledge and experience in networks. The council also supports and encourages the collective action of grantmakers to enhance the outcomes of their grantmaking and also supports member collaboratives adn work in public policy and advocacy. The council actively manages its website which is a compendium of local and national resources, timely news and updates. The council represents the interests of its members at numerous meetings, both local and national. Leadership - the council is a leader in enhancing philanthropy in connecticut. It serves as an advocate for philanthropy by sharing with elected and appointed officials, the media and the general public the importance and impact of philanthropy for the public good in the state.”

THE PROGRAMS ARE DELIVERED IN LOCATIONS AROUND THE STATE TO ENSURE ACCESSIBILITY AND NETWORKING FOR GRANTMAKERS THROUGHOUT THE STATE. THE COUNCIL CURRENTLY SUPPORTS FOUR AFFINITY GROUPS FOCUSED ON: AGING, EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND WORKFORCE. CONNECTIONS AMONG GRANTMAKERS AND OTHERS - THE COUNCIL PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR GRANTMAKERS WITH COMMON ROLES OR GEOGRAPHY TO COME TOGETHER TO SHARE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE IN NETWORKS. THE COUNCIL ALSO SUPPORTS AND ENCOURAGES THE COLLECTIVE ACTION OF GRANTMAKERS TO ENHANCE THE OUTCOMES OF THEIR GRANTMAKING AND ALSO SUPPORTS MEMBER COLLABORATIVES ADN WORK IN PUBLIC POLICY AND ADVOCACY. THE COUNCIL ACTIVELY MANAGES ITS WEBSITE WHICH IS A COMPENDIUM OF LOCAL AND NATIONAL RESOURCES, TIMELY NEWS AND UPDATES. THE COUNCIL REPRESENTS THE INTERESTS OF ITS MEMBERS AT NUMEROUS MEETINGS, BOTH LOCAL AND NATIONAL. LEADERSHIP - THE COUNCIL IS A LEADER IN ENHANCING PHILANTHROPY IN CONNECTICUT. IT SERVES AS AN ADVOCATE FOR PHILANTHROPY BY SHARING WITH ELECTED AND APPOINTED OFFICIALS, THE MEDIA AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC THE IMPORTANCE AND IMPACT OF PHILANTHROPY FOR THE PUBLIC GOOD IN THE STATE. |
