Activity 2

Oic hospitality, customer service & retail sales training program at arc: contracts with the philadelphia department of human services to operate a vocational training program for parents connected to the dhs achieving reunification center (arc). The goal of arc is to provide those services that will ultimately permit parents to regain their parental rights. One practical goal is to secure a job, thus the financial capacity to provide for their child/children. Oic operates 7 week cycles of training in the areas of hospitality, customer service and retail sales.

Activity 3

Bto program - the oic's broadband technologies opportunities program funded through the arra works with the city of philadelphiia through its philadelphia freedom rings partnership to create a network of 77 public computing centers that will reach 14,513 of the most vulnerable citizens of philadelphia and expand broadband access to the chronically undeserved neighborhoods. Philadelphia oic will open and operate computer labs for public computing center access, adult education/ged preparation and workforce development training at the main site (1231 n. Broad street) and serve the community via its n.o.m.a.d. Labs for a total of 30 hours per week. Trainings will include general computer skills as well as connecting computer literacy to other prevailing philadelphia needs such as job readiness.
