Mission and Program Overview

Mission

The mission of the aacr is to prevent and cure cancer through research,education, communication, and collaboration. Through its programs and services, the aacr fosters research in cancer and related biomedical science; accelerates the (see schedule o for continuation) dissemination of new research findings among scientists and others dedicated to the conquest of cancer; promotes science education and training; and advances the understanding of cancer etiology, prevention, diagnosis and treatment throughout the world.

Effective january 1, 2013, aacr changed their vacation policy. Employees will only be eligible to earn up to two times their annual vacation leave time. Additionally, employees were eligible to receive a one-time vacation payout of leave time in excess of their one year accrual. The payout took place in 2013 and was based on vacation leave time valued at december 31, 2012.

Uncertain tax positions under asc 740 generally accepted accounting principles ("gaap") prescribe a minimum recognition threshold that a tax position is required to meet in order to be recognized in the financial statements. The association believes that they had no uncertain tax positions as defined in gaap and, as a result, the adoption of the standard had no impact on the association's financial statements.
