Community action development corporation of allentown (cadca) is a community development organization serving a large portion of center city allentown. Cadca organizes the residents of the center city neighborhoods to plan and implement revitalization strategies, especially small business start-ups. Cadca also administers a neighborhood partnership program funded by corporations that receive state tax credits. The npp, called upside allentown, funds physical improvements, neighborhood organizing and youth development activities. See schedule o for additional information. 95: the percent of residents enrolling in a combination of all four start your business modules continued new start your business module class format, providing comprehensive entrepreneurial training to individuals interested in starting a new business or expanding an existing business; 71 students enrolled, 49 students (69%) completed the module in which they enrolled; five businesses were started and nine jobs were created. Provided technical assistance to 24 existing or prospective entrepreneurs not participating in the start your business course; five jobs were created, three businesses were launched and 17 businesses were sustained as a result of this service. Delivered direct marketing assistance to start your business graduates, by providing website and social media development to sixteen businesses; provided marketing assistance to twenty-five existing or prospective entrepreneurs through the creation of marketing materials such as flyers, menus, business cards and logo creation; these efforts were funded by the century fund and targeted start your business graduates with an existing business in center city. Advanced pa keystone community site designation by accepting transfer of program manager responsibility from the city of allentown and continuing the implementation of the banners, signage and receptacles keystone contract with the installation of 10 decorative trash receptacles along the north sixth corridor from linden to tilghman streets. Completed fifth year of upside allentown, our neighborhood-based, six-year community development effort in collaboration with the city of allentown and other partners in the area that includes old allentown, old fairgrounds, center city (south to walnut) and seventh street: provided design work and selected ten properties for faade upgrades; supported the old allentown house tour featuring 7 beautifully restored homes and 5 new downtown allentown properties; continued implementation of arts & culture 2020 plan in the hamilton district, jordan heights and old allentown neighborhoods by creating public art, painting murals including "the queen" located at 33 n. 9th street, supporting 4 cultural festivals and expanding the "third thursday" arts experience with 200-300 participants monthly at 5-7 different locations; collaborated on launching the inaugural allentown parent network event with over 200 combined attendees including parents, students, school district staff and community partners; supported both the allentown police department's youth academy which introduced 64 youth to careers in law enforcement; funded 29 officers conducting a combination of "quality of life" bicycle and walking patrols in the upside footprint to improve safety and contribute to a 16% reduction in serious crime for center city; conducted two weeklong sat "boot" camps for 28 high school students aspiring to attend college capped off by a local college tour; funded esl instruction for 29 students; funded a combination of 17 neighborhood and special events including summer youth camps, sporting & recreational competitions, block parties and community fairs which served over 3,500 residents. (these efforts were funded at 150,000 by bb&t bank, 100,000 by ppl corporation and td bank and at 50,000 by alvin h. CADCA ORGANIZES THE RESIDENTS OF THE CENTER CITY NEIGHBORHOODS TO PLAN AND IMPLEMENT REVITALIZATION STRATEGIES, ESPECIALLY SMALL BUSINESS START-UPS. CADCA ALSO ADMINISTERS A NEIGHBORHOOD PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM FUNDED BY CORPORATIONS THAT RECEIVE STATE TAX CREDITS. THE NPP, CALLED UPSIDE ALLENTOWN, FUNDS PHYSICAL IMPROVEMENTS, NEIGHBORHOOD ORGANIZING AND YOUTH DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES. SEE SCHEDULE O FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. 95: THE PERCENT OF RESIDENTS ENROLLING IN A COMBINATION OF ALL FOUR START YOUR BUSINESS MODULES CONTINUED NEW START YOUR BUSINESS MODULE CLASS FORMAT, PROVIDING COMPREHENSIVE ENTREPRENEURIAL TRAINING TO INDIVIDUALS INTERESTED IN STARTING A NEW BUSINESS OR EXPANDING AN EXISTING BUSINESS; 71 STUDENTS ENROLLED, 49 STUDENTS (69%) COMPLETED THE MODULE IN WHICH THEY ENROLLED; FIVE BUSINESSES WERE STARTED AND NINE JOBS WERE CREATED. PROVIDED TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO 24 EXISTING OR PROSPECTIVE ENTREPRENEURS NOT PARTICIPATING IN THE START YOUR BUSINESS COURSE; FIVE JOBS WERE CREATED, THREE BUSINESSES WERE LAUNCHED AND 17 BUSINESSES WERE SUSTAINED AS A RESULT OF THIS SERVICE. DELIVERED DIRECT MARKETING ASSISTANCE TO START YOUR BUSINESS GRADUATES, BY PROVIDING WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA DEVELOPMENT TO SIXTEEN BUSINESSES; PROVIDED MARKETING ASSISTANCE TO TWENTY-FIVE EXISTING OR PROSPECTIVE ENTREPRENEURS THROUGH THE CREATION OF MARKETING MATERIALS SUCH AS FLYERS, MENUS, BUSINESS CARDS AND LOGO CREATION; THESE EFFORTS WERE FUNDED BY THE CENTURY FUND AND TARGETED START YOUR BUSINESS GRADUATES WITH AN EXISTING BUSINESS IN CENTER CITY. ADVANCED PA KEYSTONE COMMUNITY SITE DESIGNATION BY ACCEPTING TRANSFER OF PROGRAM MANAGER RESPONSIBILITY FROM THE CITY OF ALLENTOWN AND CONTINUING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE BANNERS, SIGNAGE AND RECEPTACLES KEYSTONE CONTRACT WITH THE INSTALLATION OF 10 DECORATIVE TRASH RECEPTACLES ALONG THE NORTH SIXTH CORRIDOR FROM LINDEN TO TILGHMAN STREETS.
