The mission of the boyertown area ymca is to provide programs which will join everyone, regardless of age, race, sex, faith, ethnicity, ability or religion, in means by which one learns to lead a healthier life, build strong family relationships, develop self-confidence, enrich one's mind, learn responsibility for the common good, and respect for one another. We offer people the opportunity to grow in spirit, mind, and body, as symbolized by the three corners of the universal ymca triangle.

The mission of the boyertown area ymca is to provide programs which will join everyone, regardless of age, race, sex, faith, ethnicity, ability or religion, in means by which one learns to lead a healthier life, build strong family relationships, develop self-confidence, enrich one's mind, learn responsibility for the common good, and respect for one another. We offer people the opportunity to grow in spirit, mind, and body, as symbolized by the three corners of the universal ymca triangle. The boyertown area ymca is a membership organization that welcomes every one of all ages, incomes, abilities, faiths and ethnic groups. The boyertown area ymca offers a welcoming atmosphere where participants feel comfortable and receive the support they need to improve their physical, mental and spiritual health. Services are offered at affordable fees for the community at-large, with financial assistance available for those who cannot afford the full fee. As of december 2013, 4,769 people were boyertown area ymca members. Of those members 1,500 were individual program members (all ages included), and 3,269 were wellness members. Of the 1,455 wellness members 93 were youth members, 102 were teen members, 53 were college members, 439 were adult members, 485 were household members (entire family), 55 were single household (single parent), 231 were senior citizen members and 98 were senior citizen household members. In 2013, 408 individuals and families received financial assistance through our golden rule scholarship program that enabled them to participate in ymca programs or receive ymca services. In golden rule scholarship alone, $56,054 was dispersed to those individuals and families who could demonstrate a need for assistance. The boyertown area ymca has three branch centers: the daniel b. Boyer center is situated on 11 acres in colebrookdale township, boyertown, pennsylvania. The facility includes an eight lane, 25-yard indoor pool, full size gymnasium, two multi-purpose rooms, fully equipped wellness center, 2 racquetball courts, pre-school and school-age child development facilities, youth and teen wellness room, 4 locker rooms, 2 whirlpools, saunas, and steam rooms, outdoor volleyball courts and pavilion. The gilbertsville center encompasses 4.5 acres in douglass township, montgomery county, gilbertsville, pennsylvania. Predominately a child development facility, this space offers 15 childcare rooms for children age 6 weeks to 6th grade, a large multi-purpose room, nursery school room, a large indoor playground and multiple outdoor playgrounds. It also has 5,000 square feet of space that is being converted into a sports & wellness training center. The wm. S. Hollenbach center is located on 12 acres in new hanover township, gilbertsville, pennsylvania. The facility includes a wellness center, 2 locker rooms, full size gymnasium with a regulation size basketball court, pre-school and school-age child development facilities, outdoor pavilion and multiple outdoor playgrounds. It also has a wrestling room and conference room upstairs. The boyertown area ymca entered into a second three year contract with the borough of boyertown to oversee the complete operations of the boyertown community pool. We are currently in our third year of the second contract. We believe that ymca programs should be accessible to anyone who can benefit from them, regardless of their ability to pay. Operating principles: the ymca has three vital areas of focus: for youth development-nurturing the potential of every child and teen for healthy living-improving the nation's health and well-being for social responsibility-giving back and providing support to our neighbors the ymca has no private owners or stockholders. No one who is involved benefits on a profit-making basis. In accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, the organization accounts for uncertain tax positions relative to unrelated business income, if any, as required. Using that guidance, management has determined that there are no uncertain tax positions that qualify for either recognition or disclosure in the financial statements. IN 2013, MORE THAN 475 PRESCHOOL AND SCHOOL-AGE CHILDREN PARTICIPATED IN YMCA CHILDCARE EACH DAY. WE PROVIDE BOTH FULL-TIME AND PART-TIME CHILDCARE OPTIONS TO SERVE FAMILY SCHEDULING NEEDS AND TO ENSURE THAT CHILDREN OF ALL INCOME LEVELS CAN PARTICIPATE. THE BOYERTOWN AREA YMCA RECOGNIZES THE NEED TO DELIVER HIGH QUALITY CHILDCARE IN ORDER TO HELP STRENGTHEN FAMILIES. WE REALIZE THAT MANY FAMILIES, SPANNING MANY DIFFERENT SOCIOECONOMIC BACKGROUNDS ARE "AT RISK" AND STRUGGLE WITH THE STRESS OF RAISING A FAMILY. THE BOYERTOWN AREA YMCA IS COMMITTED TO SUPPORTING FAMILIES THAT ARE IN NEED OF ASSISTANCE BY PROVIDING TUITION ASSISTANCE FOR CHILDCARE SERVICES.YMCA CHILDCARE PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED TO MEET THE INDIVIDUAL NEEDS OF THE CHILD AND THE FAMILY AS A WHOLE. WE WORK HARD TO PROVIDE HIGH QUALITY PROGRAMMING BY PROVIDING ART, GYM, MUSIC AND SPANISH INSTRUCTION BY EDUCATIONAL SPECIALISTS. OUR KINDERGARTEN CARE PROVIDES PROGRAMS THAT COMPLIMENT THE SCHOOL CURRICULUM AND THAT STIMULATE PHYSICAL, INTELLECTUAL, EMOTIONAL AND SOCIAL GROWTH INCLUDING WEEKLY SWIM TIME. OUR SCHOOL-AGE CHILDCARE PROGRAMS PROVIDE A SAFE AND ENRICHING ENVIRONMENT. TO HELP DEFRAY THE COSTS OF CHILDCARE, A TOTAL OF 7 SCHOOL-AGE CHILDREN RECEIVED $1,839 IN 2013.THE BOYERTOWN AREA YMCA DAY CAMP PROGRAMS ARE STRUCTURED TO HELP YOUNSTERS LEARN THE VALUE OF COOPERATION AND GAIN CONFIDENCE TO CHALLENGE THEM TO ACHIEVE POSITIVE PERSONAL GROWTH. WE OFFER A VALUABLE ALTERNATIVE TO CHILDREN STAYING HOME ALONE DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS. IN 2013, WE HAD 490 CAMPERS REGISTERED IN OUR SUMMER CAMP PROGRAMS AVERAGING 265 PRE-SCHOOL, SCHOOL-AGE AND TEEN CAMPERS PER DAY.
