The board of directors of the organization recommends board members to the episcopal diocese of bethlehem, who ratify the appointment.

Financial Statement Notes

PART IV, LINE 2B:

The organization operates a representative payee program whereby the organization provides financial case management. All of the clients' bills are paid directly by the agency.

PART V, LINE 4:

To support the mission of the organization by providing funding to the various programs

PART X, LINE 2:

The organization is exempt from federal income taxes under the provision of section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code and none of its present or anticipated future activities are subject to unrelated business income. Therefore, no provision for income taxes has been made in the accompanying financial statements. Uncertain tax positions are evaluated in accordance with fasb asc 740-10. Asb asc 740-10 clarifies the accounting for uncertainty in income taxes recognized in the organization's financial statements and prescribes a recognition threshold of more-likely-than-not to be sustained upon examination by the appropriate taxing authority. Measurement of the tax uncertainty occurs if the recognition threshold has been met. Fasb asc 740-10 also provides guidance for derecognition, classification, interest and penalties, accounting in interim periods, and disclosure. The organization had no material unrecognized tax benefits or accrued interest or penalties for 2019 or 2018. The organization files income tax returns in the united states and the state of pennsylvania. The organization is no longer subject to u.s. Federal examinations by taxing authorities for years before 2017.

TYPICALLY, THE CENTER FOCUSES ON HOUSING, LIFE SKILLS AND EMPLOYMENT, BUT ALSO CAN ASSIST WITH CHILDCARE, COUNSELING, MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES, ADDICTION, CRISIS INTERVENTION AND REFERRALS TO COMMUNITY RESOURCES. IN 2019 THE CENTER GAVE PARTICULAR FOCUS TO RENTAL ASSISTANCE CASES (71 PEOPLE HOUSED) AND HEALTH SERVICES (85 PEOPLE SERVED BY LEHIGH VALLEY HEALTH NETWORK'S STREET MEDICINE PROGRAM).

WE SERVED ALMOST 37,400 MEALS TO PEOPLE WHO ARE POOR, HUNGRY, AND HOMELESS WITH AN AVERAGE OF 3,000 MEALS PER MONTH. WE DISTRIBUTED GROCERY CARTS TO 300 FAMILIES AND A TOTAL OF 5,953 INDIVIDUALS. ANNUALLY, THESE HOUSEHOLDS ARE COMPRISED OF 4,071 ADULTS, 1,245 CHILDREN AND 637 ELDERLY INDIVIDUALS. THIS NUMBER COMPRISED OF APPROXIMATELY 5,953 PEOPLE WERE SERVED INDIRECTLY THROUGH OUR HOSPITALITY CENTER WITH MEALS AND GROCERIES SENT HOME. IN ADDITION, WE PROVIDED 2,713 SHOWERS. WE CONTINUED TO MAKE AVAILABLE A WASHER AND DRYER TO LAUNDER CLOTHING AND USE OF OUR ADDRESS TO MORE THAN 100 INDIVIDUALS WITHOUT A PLACE TO RECEIVE MAIL. WE OFFERED WELLNESS SERVICES, WHICH INCLUDED PRIMARY MEDICAL CARE AND NUTRITIONAL COUNSELING. WE ONCE AGAIN INCREASED OUR DISTRIBUTION OF FRESH PRODUCE THROUGH MEALS SERVED AND FOOD BASKETS DISTRIBUTED, THANKS TO PARTNERSHIPS WITH LOCAL COMMERCIAL FARMERS AND COMMUNITY GARDENERS AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT FROM SEVERAL FOUNDATIONS AND ORGANIZATIONS. WE SUPPLEMENTED THIS WITH PRODUCE GROWN IN OUR NEW GARDEN, WHICH WAS TENDED BY SEVERAL OF OUR RESIDENTS.

THE COPLAY SITE IS OWNED BY THE COMMUNITY HELP PARTNERSHIP, OF WHICH NEW BETHANY MINISTRIES IS THE GENERAL AND MANAGING PARTNER. A TOTAL OF 47 ADULTS 33 MEN AND 14 WOMEN RESIDED IN THESE FACILITIES.CHOICE FOOD PANTRYIN 2019, WE LAUNCHED THE RENOVATED CHOICE FOOD PANTRY. WE SERVED OVER 300 FAMILIES, 4,175 ADULTS, 1,397 CHILDREN AND 589 ELDERLY TOTALING 5,953 INDIVIDUALS SERVED THROUGHOUT THE LEHIGH VALLEY. WITH THE NEWLY RENOVATED CHOICE FOOD PANTRY, WE ARE SEEKING TO PROVIDE HEALTHIER FOOD OPTIONS SUCH AS FRUIT, VEGETABLES, POULTRY MEAT, ETC. GIVING OUR CLIENTS EVEN MORE CHOICE ON WHICH FOOD THEY TAKE HOME TO THEIR LOVED ONES IS VITAL TO EMPOWERING CHANGE HOLISTICALLY.

FAMILIES AND SINGLE RESIDENTS LIVING IN OUR HOUSING UNITS NEVER PAY MORE THAN 1/3 OF THEIR INCOME.
