“The chair of the board shall appoint a committee on the board, comprised of all officers of the corporation and not more than two (2) other individuals. The committee on the board shall meet at least six times each year and shall have responsibility for: (a) board development, recruitment, and nominations, (b) ceo development, recruitment, and nomination; and (c) executive compensation. The ceo shall not participate in committee meetings, or portions of those meetings, in which matters concerning the ceo are discussed. “The prepared 990 is initially reviewed by internal finance personnel. Once the form 990 is approved by management, the audit committee and each member of the board of directors receive copies to review prior to being filed with the irs.”
“All employees of inglis foundation and related entities must ensure that customer care and business activities are conducted in an objective manner and are not motivated by desire for personal or financial gain. All employees are required to disclose any actual or potential conflict of interest to his or her manager, human resources or the chief ethics and compliance officer for appropriate determination and resolution. In addition, all directors, officers, members of committees with board-delegated powers and all senior managers must complete a conflict of interest affirmation of compliance and disclosure statement upon hiring, on an annual basis, and when a potential conflict of interest arises. The foundation's committee on the board has responsibility for reviewing the disclosure statements and enforcing the policy. If a conflict is deemed to be present by the committee on the board, only disinterested board members may participate in a vote of the proposed transaction. Family and business relationships are expressly mentioned in the conflict of interest policy.”
“The organization retains an external firm to conduct market studies and make recommendations for compensation, taking into consideration fair market value for the industry. Non-union, non-executive roles are evaluated every 2-3 years based on market fluctuations or demand. Executive compensation is evaluated annually and the findings are presented to the "committee on the board" for approval of compensation package. The "committee on the board" is a subcommittee of the board that is responsible for compensation review, and the decisions regarding compensation are documented in committee meeting minutes. An annual benchmark is conducted for executive compensation and for any position that is in high demand, and an external firm provides overall trends for the year. Compensation has been reviewed in 2016.”
“The organization makes the governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements available to the public upon request.”
“Board meetings each board member attends four board meetings per year, which last a total of approximately 16 hours. They are also on two separate committees which have three meetings per year, which last about 16 hours in total. Additionally, each board member spends about two hours per month outside of meetings on inglis business. Therefore, the total time spent on inglis business by non-employee officers and directors is approximately 56 hours, or 1 hour per week.”
“The inglis community reentry program helps residents prepare to live independently in the community. The program provides practical experiences that train residents in the skills they need to lead safe and successful independent lives. Five residents completed the program and moved on to independent living during this fiscal year, in addition to preparing 28 inglis house residents to move to the new inglis gardens at belmont apartments. Inglis community support services enable people living independently in the community to enjoy successful lives in which they achieve their goals and live life to the fullest. Besides providing accessible, affordable housing, community support services include care management, employment services, an active adult day program and sales of the drink-aide water bottle, which was invented by inglis residents and staff. Highlights for each program include: inglis has been developing accessible housing since 1976 and is one of the largest providers of accessible housing for people with disabilities in the region. Currently inglis manages/owns 301 affordable, accessible apartments in southeastern pennsylvania and new jersey. Occupancy in inglis' apartment complexes was 98.33% for fy 2016. Several of its developments have been recognized for outstanding design and property management; all units meet or exceed americans with disabilities act specifications. In fy 2016, inglis completed the construction of inglis gardens at belmont, adjacent to inglis house on belmont avenue. The 80-unit development provides affordable, accessible housing to 40 people with physical disabilities who are former nursing home residents, and 40 community members who meet income guidelines. Inglis gardens at belmont is also the location of the innovative inglis virtual life program (living independently for everyone) an 18-month pilot program which enables people living with significant physical disabilities and complex health care needs to live independently in the community. Community support services assists people with diverse disabilities (physical, cognitive, psychiatric, and sensory) in gaining and/or retaining competitive employment in the community. Services include assessment, career/goal planning, individualized training, interview and hire support, on-the-job training, post-hire follow-up, and job retention services/support. In fy 2016, ices assisted 49 consumers, including 13 new consumers, with various disabilities in achieving employment-related goals within their local communities. The program was also awarded three new janitorial contracts and expanded its photo technology contracts from four to five days per week. Inglis drink-aide is the patented water bottle designed by and for people with physical disabilities. Promoting independence in drinking water, inglis drink-aide is registered with the u.s. Food & drug administration (fda) as a class i medical device. It features a patented, vibration-resistant tube that enables individuals with limited to no upper body movement drink on their own. The bottle attaches easily to wheelchairs, walkers, bedrails, etc. With its cup-holder and universal clamp. The inglis program employs four part-time workers with disabilities who assemble and ship the water bottles. In fy 2016, inglis filled 559 international drink aide orders, many containing volume purchases and resulting in a two percent revenue increase. The inglis adult day program serves consumers who live independently in the community, providing social, educational, therapeutic and wellness activities each weekday. “Inglis' mission is to enable people with disabilities - and those who care for them - to achieve their goals and live life to the fullest. This mission is accomplished through a range of programs, facilities and strategic initiatives designed to empower adults (ages 18 and older) with severe disabilities. The inglis organization grew out of the work of inglis house, a public charity founded in 1877 to provide long-term, rehabilitative medical and nursing care for people with physical disabilities. Today, inglis is a national leader in providing comprehensive care and services for people with paralysis, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, spinal cord and other neurological disorders. Inglis supports its consumers with 24-hour care at inglis house, a 252-bed skilled nursing facility; via 301 affordable, accessible apartments in southeastern pa and southern nj. Our regional services include community support services for employment and care management, an adapted technology community computing program, an adult day program and drink-aide water bottle sales. During fiscal year 2016 inglis served over 1,000 people directly, and many more indirectly through its website, www.inglis.org, the inglis awards for continuing excellence program and other outreach activities. Program/services accomplishments inglis highlights include: our new wellness & rehabilitation center, completed during the previous fiscal year, is tremendously popular with residents. Seventy percent participate in our restorative programs and/or use the cardiovascular and strength training equipment. Worked with 20 colleges, universities and organizations to train future healthcare professionals to better understand the unique needs of people with disabilities. Completed construction of the 80-unit inglis gardens at belmont apartments adjacent to inglis house on belmont avenue. This beautiful new apartment complex provides housing for 40 people with physical disabilities who previously lived in nursing homes, and 40 community residents who met specific income guidelines. Inglis technology specialists and therapists engaged in a partnership with comcast's research specialists, designers and engineers to provide insight into the development of a fully voice-activated remote control. This remote would allow people with physical disabilities to use simple voice commands to change channels, search for shows and more. The inglis staff are also testing comcast's x1 entertainment system and xfinity home devices for compatibility, accessibility and usability for people with disabilities who use adapted technology. Comcast's xfinity home automation devices, paired with adapted technologies, will potentially allow users with physical limitations to independently adjust their thermostat, turn lights on and off and perform many other useful household functions. Consultation and training was completed for 69 consumers enrolled in the inglis community computing project during this fiscal year. During the first two years of this three-year grant initiative, funded by the pew charitable trusts, a total of 493 persons were served, enhancing their and productivity by improving access to computer technology and adapted computing equipment. The program is in the third year of its grant cycle, expiring april 1, 2017. A grant renewal proposal has been submitted to extend funding through 2020. Upgraded wi-fi services on the inglis campus, providing residents with reliable, state of the art access to the intranet for social, recreational and educational activities. Funds for this initiative were provided from the proceeds of the 2015 inglis golf outing. Celebrated the tenth anniversary of the inglis awards for continuing excellence (ace) program, to honor the outstanding performance of other organizations serving people with disabilities throughout the delaware valley. Five organizations received awards in '16, and continued inglis' goal of sharing best practices regionally and nationally. Mo”
