Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

A draft of the form 990 is first reviewed by the president and the board treasurer. Any changes are sent to and made by the independent public accountants. A second draft of the 990 then goes to the board for final review.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

Officers are required to comply with st. Christopher's foundation for children's conflict of interest policy upon joining the board with a signed statement, whenever such risks arise, and/or every three years.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

St. Christopher's foundation for children uses the 990s of other like organizations to establish compensation ranges. Compensation surveys and studies are also used by the executive committee to establish the compensation for the president.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19

The bylaws of st. Christopher's foundation for children, which includes the conflict of interest policy, and the governing documents are located in our office and are available to the public upon request. Form 990 is also available on guidestar.org.

Supplemental Narrative

Financial Statement Notes

PART V, LINE 4:

The endowment funds are used for educational and research programs.

PART X, LINE 2:

The foundation has been classified by the internal revenue service as an organization described under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code ("code"), and as exempt from federal income taxes under section 501(a) of the code. Accounting principles generally accepted in the united states of america require management to evaluate tax positions taken and recognize a tax liability, if the foundation has taken an uncertain tax position that more likely than not would not be sustained upon examination by a government authority. Management has analyzed the tax positions taken by the foundation and has concluded that as of june 30, 2018 and 2017,there are no uncertain positions taken or expected to be taken that would require recognition of a liability or disclosure in the financial statements. The foundation recognizes accrued interest and penalties associated with uncertain tax positions, if any, as part of supporting services expenses. There were no income tax related interest and penalties recorded for either of the years ended june 30, 2018 or 2017.
