Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

A draft of the 990 is available to the full board of directors in the office of the school for a period of time preceding the filing of the form.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

The school has each employee and board member sign a conflict of interest policy at least annually. The signed forms are reviewed for any issues and addressed as necessary.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

Executive compensation is based on advis, nais and pais listings of head salaries for schools under 200 students (lowest enrollment). The school looks at size, type, operating budgets, experience and socio-economic regions. All other salaries are also compared to these benchmarks. Once the amounts are determined based on information from the advis, nais and pais sources, the executive committee reviews and reports to the board for approval.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19

Government documents, conflict of interest policy and financial statements are available in the school office upon request. In addition, the 990 can be found at the guidestar website.

FORM 990, PART XI, LINE 9:

Paycheck protection program revenue 284,371.

Financial Statement Notes

PART V, LINE 4:

To support the mission of the school through annual withdrawal of funds for educational, program, and capital needs.

PART X, LINE 2:

The accounting standard for uncertainty in income taxes addresses the determination of whether tax benefits claimed or expected to be claimed on a tax return should be recorded in the financial statements. Under that guidance, the school may recognize the tax benefits from an uncertain tax position only if it is more likely than not that the tax position will be sustained on examination by taxing authorities based on the technical merits of the position. Examples of tax positions include the tax-exempt status of the school and various positions related to the potential sources of unrelated business taxable income (ubit). The tax benefits recognized in the financial statements from such a position are measured based on the largest benefit that has a greater than 50% likelihood of being realized upon ultimate settlement. There were no unrecognized tax benefits identified or liabilities recorded for the fiscal years 2021 and 2020.
