Additional Explanations

Pt VI, Line 11B

The 990 and all schedules are made available electronically to all Board Members prior to the meeting where it is reviewed and approved by the Board

Pt VI, Line 12C

Officer, Board members and employees are annually required to disclose any potential conflict of interest and sign a statement to that effect. The Treasurer reviews accounting entries and Board approval is required where conflicts could exist. Board members must recuse themselves from voting on possible conflict of interest involvement.

Pt VI, Line 15A

The compensation of the Executive Director is the result of establishing performance goals and periodically reviewing the progress towards these goals with the Board President. The result of these reviews is a recommendation for a proposed salary package for the approval of the Executive Committee. We have undertaken compensation surveys with comparable local not-for-profits to guide us in establishing salary and benefits for all employees.

Pt VI, Line 19

Governing documents, financial statements and policies are available upon request at our administrative offices. Documents are provided to funders as requested.

IRS990/Desc0APPRISE is a program funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging and coordinated in Montgomery County by RSVP to help Medicare beneficiaries understand their health care options and make the best decisions appropriate to their health and financial needs. APPRISE counselors are state trained RSVP volunteers who provide free assistance without bias. Counselors are available in person or by phone at 30 sites throughout Montgomery County to answer questions about prescription drug coverage, Medicare benefits, Medicare Advantage and supplemental plans, Medicare extra help, or appealing claims. Counselors and staff also make presentations to groups to answer broader more general questions as well as information on how to receive individualized consultations. Counselors also pro- actively help those with low incomes determine if they qualify for additional Medicare benefits through extra help. In 2019, 26 counselors spent 3,958 hours assisting over 4,000 seniors through individual counseling, at neighborhood and corporate presentations, and at local senior health fairs and expos.
