“On september 11, 2015, the museum filed a voluntary petition for relief in the united states bankruptcy court, chapter 11 of title 11 of the u.s. Bankruptcy code. The museum continued to operate its business under the jurisdiction of the bankruptcy court and in accordance with the applicable provisions of the code. On march 16, 2016, the museum's plan of reorganization was formally confirmed by the bankruptcy court. The plan became effective on march 31, 2016, at which time the museum officially emerged from bankruptcy. In accordance with the plan, the museum paid $8,250,000 to the trustee for the bondholders. In addition, the bondholders received certain other trustee-held escrow funds totaling approximately $5,687,000. The money used to pay the bondholders primarily came from a designated capital campaign created by the museum and approximately $7,856,000 was raised from the campaign in fiscal year 2016. This campaign was a one-time event to raise contributed revenue in order to exit chapter 11 and accordingly, the museum's contributed revenue in fiscal year 2017 showed a significant decrease versus 2016.”
