Activity 2

Counseling: The Counseling Project at A Woman's Place (AWP) combines individual and group counseling, a nationally recognized Medical Advocacy Project, 24-hour hotline services, as well as shelter based empowerment counseling. On average, AWP answers 214 calls a month on the Hotline. In 2011-2012, AWP provided shelter for 66 adults and 58 children. Counselors provided 10,866 hours of counseling to individuals and facilitated 1,055 hours of support group counseling.

Activity 3

Education & Training: Through education & training programs, AWP is committed to building the community's capacity to respond to and prevent domestic abuse and violence. Programs presented at elementary, middle, and high schools throughout Bucks County address awareness and prevention in an effort to stop abuse and violence before it starts. During 2011-2012, 191 school-based education programs were offered and reached 6,437 students. 319 prevention education programs were offered to 8,599 community members. Training healthcare professionals is another vital component of AWP's Education & Training Project, training 1,678 Bucks County professionals, during 141 medical programs, to better treat patients who may be victims of domestic abuse and violence.
