Supplemental Narrative

Financial Statement Notes

PART III, LINE 4:

The collections, which were acquired through purchases and contributions since the center's inception, are not recognized as assets on the statement of financial position. Purchases of collections are recorded as decreases in net assets without donor restrictions in the year in which the items are acquired, or as decreases in net assets with donor restrictions if the net assets used to purchase the items are restricted by donors. Contributed collections items are not reflected on the financial statements. Proceeds from deaccessions or insurance recoveries are reflected as increases in the appropriate net asset classes. The center's collections are catalogued, preserved, and cared for, and activities verifying their existence and assessing their condition are performed continuously.

PART V, LINE 4:

The center's board designated funds are to be used for loans to students and an annual grant award.

PART X, LINE 2:

The center is exempt from income tax under irc section 501(c)(3), though it is subject to tax on income unrelated to its exempt purpose, unless that income is otherwise excluded by the code. The center has processes presently in place to ensure the maintenance of its tax-exempt status; to identify and report unrelated income; to determine its filing and tax obligations; and to identify and evaluate other matters that may be considered tax positions. The center has determined that there are no material uncertain tax positions that require recognition or disclosure in the financial statements.
