“The school compiles all necessary schedules and information for the tax preparer to upload into the return. Once prepared by the tax preparer, a draft copy of the 990 is circulated amongst the audit committee for review and discussion with the business manager, controller and tax preparer. The audit committee then votes to recommend the draft 990 be submitted to the board of trustees for their approval. The draft 990 is uploaded to the board portal for 10 days for the board of trustees to review and approve.”
