IRS990/Desc0Jewel Theatre Company produces a season of 5 to 6 professional theatrical productions each year, ranging from classical works to world premieres, and including dramas, comedies, and musicals, that both entertain and increase our audiences awareness, knowledge and understanding of both historical and topical issues. Approximately 14,000 persons attended the productions during the year. Due to the COVID-19 shutdown, for the 2020/2021 fiscal year, we were only able to produce streaming-only productions, which included two full length plays, several radio play readings, and three archive videos of past in-person shows. Some of these events were ticketed, but most were free of charge. Each streaming show was streamed by approximately 300-500 people.

IRS990ScheduleD/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0Jewel Theatre Company is exempt from taxation under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) and California Revenue and Taxation Code Section 23701d. Generally accepted accounting principles provide accounting and disclosure guidance. Management has considered its tax positions and believes that all of the positions taken by the organization in its federal and state exempt organization tax returns are more likely than not to be sustained upon examination. The organizations returns are subject to examination by federal and state taxing authorities, general for three and four years respectively, after they are filed.
