“Membership categories consist of the following: 1) candidate, 2) active, 3) senior, 4) associate, 5) affiliate, 6) honorary, and 7) international. Membership admission may be granted by an action of the secretary, approval by the membership committee and board of directors, majority vote of members present at the annual meeting, and/or some other occurrence or event, depending on the membership category.”

“The governing body is elected by a majority vote of the active and senior members present at the annual meeting.”

“Active and senior members shall have such rights and obligations as may be approved by the board of directors, including voting at the annual meeting, serving on committees or councils, serving as chairs of committees or councils, or holding elected office. Candidate, associate, affiliate, honorary, and international members shall have such rights and obligations as may be approved by the board of directors, including serving on committees and voting on those specific committees, but shall not be permitted to vote on other svs business, hold elected office or serve as chairs of councils or committees.”

“Executive director and board of director officers review and approve the form 990 prior to filing.”

“Board members are required to complete and submit an annual conflict of interest disclosure form to the board. The forms are reviewed and approved. Thereafter, the forms are kept on file at the svs headquarters.”

“Compensation for the executive director is determined by the executive committee based on performance evaluations and salary studies. The executive director determines compensation for all other staff, including any key employees, based in part on data contained in benchmark studies from executive associations.”
