Financial Statement Notes

Part X, Line 2

The Organization has evaluated any uncertain tax positions and related income tax contingencies and determined uncertain positions, if any, are not material to the financial statements, according to FASB ASC 740-10. Penalties and interest assessed by income taxing authorities are included in operating expenses, if incurred. None of the Organization's returns are currently under examination.

Part II, Line 9

The Organization owns several parcels of land received via donations in prior years. The Organization also holds conservation easements on 39 properties. These conservation easements represent a perpetual restriction on the use of land even if there is a transfer of ownership of the underlying property. The 39 easements are located in New Paltz, Gardiner, Lloyd, Esopus, Rosendale, Marlborough, and Shawangunk, NY and range from less than one to 130 acres. The Organization does not record donated easements at fair value. Donated easements are carried at a zero book value primarily because a typical conservation easement provides the Organization with no affirmative rights except to monitor and enforce the easement. Acquisition costs or tradeland expenses incurred by the Organization to purchase development rights are expensed in the period incurred.

PART II, LINE 2A

During the year ended June 30, 2019, the Organization added the Smith Conservation Easement. This easement is 57 acres located at 137 Forest Glen Rd., New Paltz, New York.
