“Youth catalytics is a national non-profit training and research organization headquartered in vt, with additional offices in me, or and dc. Established in 1981 to support child welfare programs in new england, over time youth catalytics has expanded to work with multi-service agencies, schools, communities, state systems, universities and foundations throughout the united states. Youth catalytics builds organizational capacity in youth serving and youth led organizations by providing strategic planning, fund development, program development, communications expertise, evaluation, and sponsorship.”

“Having submitted our year two continuum request for july 1, 2017, under our five year oah teen pregnancy prevention capacity building cooperative agreement, and for which we were given verbal approval, on july 5th we received written notice that our grant was discontinued, due to a 'change in federal priorities'. In fact, several new hhs appointments had been put in place. The other five capacity builders were sent the same notice. The 84 direct-service grantees received notice shortly thereafter that they too would be shut down in one year's time. We obtained pro-bono legal counsel to pursue our case, and along with others sought legislative assistance. Despite our best efforts, our concerns were ignored and our grant was not reinstated. In light of the way the new administration had been operating across federal agencies, we were discouraged from pursuing litigation. Thus, in addition to the loss of our annual grant of 534,000 from oah, we also lost an annual sub-contract for 174,000 under umass donohue institute's oah grant. In response to this massive hit we had to cut staff and related expenses considerably, and have been working diligently to stabilize the organization for both short and long-term.”
