Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 8B

The committees do not have the authority to act on behalf of the governing body.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11

The form 990 is prepared by the external auditors and reviewed by management and the board of directors. Revisions, corrections, etc. Are made as necessary. Once all are satisfied with the form, it is finalized, a copy is sent to all board members, and it is filed with the irs.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

The potential conflict of interest would be presented to the board for approval. If there is a related board member, the related board member would abstain from voting on the resolution. All related party transactions must be approved by the board of directors. Related party transactions are monitored by the board of directors.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

Annually, the board conducts a performance review and evaluation of the executive director. The review also establishes the individual's compensation for the following year. This process involves the evaluation of the individual and a review of compensation of comparable positions obtained form compensation surveys. The board's deliberation and decision is noted in the minutes of the meeting.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19

The organization makes its governing documents (articles of incorporation and by-laws), its conflict of interest policy and financial statements available upon request. The organization will mail copies upon request or provide copies to those who come to the administrative office during normal business hours.

THE FINAL CAFE WAS A NEW ENGLAND COMMON ASSESSMENT PROGRAM (NECAP) REPORT NIGHT AND AN ONCOURSE STUDENT INFORMATION SYSTEM PARENT INFORMATIONAL NIGHT.THE RHODE ISLAND DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION (RIDE) CLASSIFIED TIMES2 INCORPORATED'S STEM ACADEMY AS A "LEADING" SCHOOL. OUR STUDENTS' NECAP RESULTS HAVE EARNED THIS RECOGNITION. IN ADDITION, WE SAW THE FOLLOWING IMPROVEMENTS IN OUR STUDENTS:> OVERALL LEXILE (THE LEXILE FRAMEWORK FOR READING)SCORE INCREASE> IMPROVEMENT IN KEYBOARDING SKILLS TO ALIGN WITH NEW PARTNERSHIP FOR ASSESSMENT OF READINESS FOR COLLEGE AND CAREERS (PARCC) TESTING> INCREASED PARTICIPATION AND IMPROVEMENT IN NON-FICTION READING SKILLS> KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS DEMONSTRATED LARGE IMPROVEMENTS; MANY STUDENTS SHOWED GROWTH FROM TIER 3 TO ON-LEVEL TIER 1 BY THE END OF THE YEARTIMES2 INCORPORATED ALSO PROVIDED STUDENTS WITH AFTER SCHOOL SUPPORT TO INCREASE STUDENT SUCCESS. THE RESULTS OF THESE EFFORTS ARE EXPECTED TO PRODUCE RESULTS IN 2014-15. TIMES2 INCORPORATED EXPECTS TO INCLUDE THE ADDITION OF HONORS PHYSICS, AP CALCULUS, AND AP SPANISH.PLANNING HAS ALSO TAKEN PLACE TO INCREASE THE AVAILABILITY OF "TRUE" ELECTIVES FOR STUDENTS - BOTH IN TERMS OF PROVIDING ADDITIONAL AP OPTIONS THROUGH VIRTUAL LEARNING, AND TO REORGANIZE THE STAFFING TO ALLOW FOR SUCH COURSES AS JOURNALISM, FORENSICS AND/OR GRAPHIC DESIGN.OUR ENGINEERING PROGRAM MATURED SIGNIFICANTLY, AS EVIDENCED BY THE VOLUME OF STUDENT-MADE ARTIFACTS THAT NOW FILL THE ENGINEERING CLASSROOM, WHICH WAS EMPTY IN 2012-13.THE EMERGING FIELD STUDIES PROGRAM (THE PROGRAM) WAS GIVEN A PILOT RUN AS 8TH GRADE STUDENTS VISITED THE ADMIRAL PACKAGING COMPANY, AND 10TH GRADERS VISITED ALEXION, A PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANY SPECIALIZING IN FINDING BIOCHEMICAL SOLUTIONS TO ULTRA-RARE DISEASES. THE LESSONS LEARNED FROM THESE VISITS CONTRIBUTED TO THE FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF THE PROGRAM (OFFICIALLY CALLED "SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND ENGINEERING FIELD STUDIES": (STEFS)). THE PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT RESULTED IN A FORMAL SUBMISSION TO THE NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION (NSF)TO DEVELOP THE PROGRAM AND RESEARCH ITS EFFICACY
