Southern new jersey perinatal cooperative operates early intervention units for families in atlantic, camden, cape may, cumberland, gloucester and salem counties. Nurse-family partnership is available to individuals in burlington and camden counties who are pregnant with their first child and at fewer than 28 weeks and who meet income and residency requirements. Atlantic county healthy families primary mission: help good parents become great parents. This evidence-based, individualized home-visiting program, offered to new and expecting parents in atlantic county, is rooted in the belief that early, nurturing relationships are the foundation for lifelong, healthy development. Interactions with client families are relationship-based, family centered, culturally sensitive and designed to promote positive parent-child relationships. Healthy families aims to improve children's social and emotional well-being, increase school readiness, promote physical health and development, increase access to primary medical care and community services and decrease childhood injuries. Participating families are assigned a family support worker who educates them about infant and child development and effective parenting skills. Program staff guide families to accessible healthcare services as well as utilize available community services including housing assistance, childcare services, and employment training.”
