“Conflict of interest policy this organization is an affiliate of the trustees of the university of pennsylvania ("university"). Each covered person* annually shall complete a conflict of interest questionnaire provided by the university and shall update such questionnaire promptly as necessary to reflect changes during the course of the year. Princeton medical center is part of the university of pennsylvania health system (uphs). In keeping with its charitable purpose, uphs accepts patients in serious need of medical care regardless of their financial status. Uphs maintains records to identify and monitor levels of charity care provided, including the amount of payment forgone, based on established rates, for services and supplies furnished under its charity care policy. Uphs also provides care to patients who do not have health insurance or meet the criteria to qualify for its charity care policy, and certain amounts charged for such services are deemed to be uncollectible. In fy 2021, uphs provided $324 million in charity and underfunded care for medicaid families. In keeping with its charitable mission, princeton health has a robust community wellness program. Princeton health's community-based work serves as another example of how princeton health is redefining care by offering a dynamic curriculum of innovative health- and lifestyle-related programming, screenings and support at little or no cost to the communities we serve. Princeton health is dedicated to promoting healthy living at every stage of life and to enhancing quality of life by addressing the unique needs of women, men, seniors, children, adolescents and diverse populations. Princeton health's programs help families feel fully prepared to care for their new babies in the first years of life. Services include: baby care, car seat checks, childbirth preparation and birthing options including specialty classes such as cesarean section and twins and multiples, courses for siblings, grandparents and babysitters, daddy bootcamp, early pregnancy, lactation services including breastfeeding classes, support groups, and private outpatient consultations, virtual tours of mother baby unit, bright beginnings, and postpartum adjustment support group. “- learning lab at bucks county emergency shelter: the stress of not having stable housing can affect a child's health and lead to poor academic performance. The bucks county emergency shelter is developing a learning lab, so that children living at the shelter will have a safe and quiet learning environment. Because most schools have switched to virtual learning, the lab will enable all children to participate in the education, class schedule, and related programming offered by the school district in which they are enrolled. Two teaching aides will be at the lab each day. All will be screened for covid daily. Carol's grant goes toward classroom supplies, cleaning supplies, technology items, and ppe. - infirmary at st. Monica's secondary school in ghana: gifty, a cardiopulmonary tech, attended saint monica's secondary school in mampong-ashanti, ghana. Its alumni association has supplied ppe and other needed supplies for the school's infirmary. As a volunteer with the association, gifty will use her funding for materials to renovate the infirmary's structure, have the flooring fixed, painting done, and shelves and cabinets built, all to provide access to health care. - prevention with precaution in keesara mandal, india: fsirisha's grant helps support sofkin, a nonprofit organization that cares for 90 children in 5 foster homes in two cities of india. The nation has been hit hard by covid-19, and sofkin has taken steps to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and staff. The penn medicine cares funds will be used to buy food that the children of the foster homes will package and then distribute to less-fortunate underserved families, with help from the police. - dancing classrooms philly: dancing classrooms philly seeks to build confidence, nurture creativity, and promote a culture of mutual respect and well-being for the middle-school children of the school district of philadelphia through instructing them in ballroom dance. Research has shown that arts education programs have a positive impact on growth mindset; socially and economically disadvantaged students who have high levels of arts engagement show more positive academic and social outcomes than their non-engaged peers.
