Public education and outreach: This program organized open public conversations with energy and electricity experts and informs and educates the public. This program co-hosted Empower Hours year-round alongside Empower Our Future. These Empower Hours were held virtually, and the Zoom Account fee is embedded into this program's expenses. The Empower Hours covered various topics and often invited guest speakers to present and allowed for question and answer alongside information dissemination. Event information can be seen at empowerourfuture.org/events and CEA co-hosted and sponsored all 11 of the following events in 2024: "The first of our "New Frontiers of Energy" Empower Hour Series: What Jet Fuel, 1%, and common sense have to do with 100% Renewable Electricity with Ken Regelson," "Legislative Outlook Empower Hour," "Getting the Gas Out of Xcel's Clean Heat Plan," "Net Zero Communities with Matt Lehrman," "Primary Candidate Forum Hosted by EOF and PLAN-Boulder ," "Will We Help? Reduce More Emissions, Faster! Empower Hour with Dr. Ron Sinton," "An Informed Look at the CEO Microgrid Roadmap with Dr. Peter Lilienthal," "John Farrell of the Institute for Local Self-Reliance: IOUs and Offramps," "Exposing the Colorado oil and gas industry's free pass to pollute with Jeremy Nichols of the Center for Biological Diversity," "Is the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) a Tool or an Impediment? with Jeff Ackerman, Former Chair, CO PUC," & "Why Can't We Tap the Power of Microgrids?" This program was carried out largely virtually by staff and volunteers in collaboration with Empower Our Future and served approximately 2600 individuals.$0$6,444
Research and reporting: This program conducted research, analysis, and reporting on new developments and on-goings in the fields of energy and electricity while connecting the public to relevant resources and information. This included monthly newsletters, social media posts, action alerts, and website maintenance. Website fees and staff hours to facilitate this program offering are included below. This program was carried out by both volunteer hours and paid staff in collaboration with Empower Our Future and served approximately 1200-1400 individuals.$0$4,297
Direct educational engagement: This program mobilized organization volunteers and employees to collaborate with other organizations and directly interact with the public to educate and advocate on energy and electricity topics. Clean Energy Action followed clean energy issues at the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) and organized citizen written and oral comments and engagement on renewable energy, demand side management, electric and gas rate increases and accountability for paying for stranded and undepreciated coal plants. CEA also monitored, commented, and testified on clean energy and climate change legislation at the State Legislature and municipal levels. CEA collaborated with several other groups including the Colorado Coalition for a Livable Climate, 350Colorado, Empower Our Future and Colorado Renewable Energy Society on educational and policy efforts at the local and state level.
