The mission of the san antonio fire museum society is to preserve and share the heritage and history of fire fighting in san antonio, and to provide an educational experience of fire safety and fire prevention for children and adults.

FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION

The mission of the san antonio fire museum society is to preserve and share the heritage and history of fire fighting in san antonio, and to provide an educational experience of fire safety and fire prevention for children and adults.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

The museum was on track to have a great fiscal year (july 2019 - june 2020) with visitor counts growing and net profit and donations looking very promising. However, on march 16th the museum closed its doors due to the covid-19 pandemic. The museum remained closed through the end of the fiscal year - a total of 15 weeks. It is uncertain when it will be safe to reopen. Prior to the museum closing its doors there were a total of 7,474 visitors. In this accounting period the society instructed 400 children and 175 adults in fire safety and prevention. The museum is totally operated by volunteers who dedicated over 11,500 hours during the reporting period. In january 2020, the museum adopted a 3-year strategic plan and continues to work on its implementation. In july 2019, the museum was pleased to receive congratulations from yelp, a business directory service and crowd-sourced online review forum, for achieving a 4.96 (out of 5) star rating. The museum volunteers eagerly anticipate the safe reopening of the museum

HOWEVER, ON MARCH 16TH THE MUSEUM CLOSED ITS DOORS DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. THE MUSEUM REMAINED CLOSED THROUGH THE END OF THE FISCAL YEAR - A TOTAL OF 15 WEEKS. IT IS UNCERTAIN WHEN IT WILL BE SAFE TO REOPEN. PRIOR TO THE MUSEUM CLOSING ITS DOORS THERE WERE A TOTAL OF 7,474 VISITORS. IN THIS ACCOUNTING PERIOD THE SOCIETY INSTRUCTED 400 CHILDREN AND 175 ADULTS IN FIRE SAFETY AND PREVENTION. THE MUSEUM IS TOTALLY OPERATED BY VOLUNTEERS WHO DEDICATED OVER 11,500 HOURS DURING THE REPORTING PERIOD. IN JANUARY 2020, THE MUSEUM ADOPTED A 3-YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN AND CONTINUES TO WORK ON ITS IMPLEMENTATION. IN JULY 2019, THE MUSEUM WAS PLEASED TO RECEIVE CONGRATULATIONS FROM YELP, A BUSINESS DIRECTORY SERVICE AND CROWD-SOURCED ONLINE REVIEW FORUM, FOR ACHIEVING A 4.96 (OUT OF 5) STAR RATING. THE MUSEUM VOLUNTEERS EAGERLY ANTICIPATE THE SAFE REOPENING OF THE MUSEUM
