Mission and Program Overview

Mission

To provide transitional housing and coordinate support services to recently released inmates for the purpose of reestablishing family and community ties

FMD Transitional House is an outreach effort that is born from the Prison Outreach and Witnessing POW ministry of Central Baptist Church CBC Kingsport, TN and a partnership with other local prison and community outreach programs. Our mission is to reduce the recidivism of ex-offenders by providing much needed services and support to them and their families as they transition back into the community.

Program Services

In 2023, we secured grants from the TN Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse and the City of Kingsport to expand our facility from 3 to 6 beds. Since that time, we have processed over 75 applications/requests for those beds; provided safe, secure housing for 21 ex-offenders, assisted 15 participants in securing community based housing, assisted 12 participants in securing employment and/or benefits. In addition, we provided several life skills sessions with participants which included topics of healthy eating, personal and space hygiene, and money management. Through combined efforts, participants in the program provided over 250 hours of community service in 2024-$54,144
