“Section b, question 15a - the executive board does an annual review of the executive director's salary using comparable data and then sets the executive director's salary based on this information.”

“The organization has two classes of members, voting and honorary. Any person, association, corporation, partnership, or estate having an interest in the objectives and agreeing to support the mission of the west des moines chamber shall be eligible to apply for a voting membership. An application shall be deemed a member upon the latter of 1) the approval of the application by the board of directors, or 2) upon payment of applicable dues. A distinction in public affairs shall confer eligibility to honorary membership upon a majority vote by the board of directors.”

The interested person shall then leave the governing board or committee meeting while determination of a conflict of interest is discussed and voted upon. The remaining committee members shall decide if a conflict of interest exists. The conflict of interest policy is reviewed annually prior to the annual meeting. Each director, principal officer and member of a committee shall sign a statement which affirms such person: 1) has received a copy of the conflict of interest policy, 2) has read and understands the policy, 3) has agreed to comply with the policy, and 4) understands the chamber is a not- for-profit and in order to maintain its federal tax exemption it must engage primarily in activities which accomplish one or more of its tax- exempt purposes.”

“Accelerate (fka new view) is the young professionals extension of the chamber. Accelerate holds monthly events to help foster relationships between chamber members and young professionals in the community.”
