| 2024 Accomplishments--Classes: Altogether, 109 couples (218 people) attended 5 and 6-week (10 and 12-hour) Marriage Education (ME) classes at nine (9) different venues. (Trained coaches were utilized at classes, helping the couples attending to learn the communication skills correctly to enable them to be more effective at home.) This was accomplished by continuing to build partnerships with churches and other organizations in a collaborative effort to reach more couples with marriage education opportunities.--Marriage Weekend Retreats: Two retreats for couples were organized and facilitated by staff to strengthen marriages. The one in February with 21 couples was on Loving your Spouse Through the Seasons of Marriage and the one in November with 16 couples was about Reconnecting: From Housemates to Heartmates. --Marriage Events: To keep the importance of healthy marriages in the forefront of couples minds and to benefit couples, FCHMC widely promoted the National Marriage Week (which is Feb 7-14 every year) online events by marriage experts and also our own NMW event to pastors, couples, and at several churches: Our community-wide date night event was organized, promoted, and facilitated by FCHMC staff at a large church with 195 couples (390 people) attending this MARRIED UP! Dessert Date Night with a presentation by a couple, Dan & Danielle Macauley, from Nashville, TN, who encouraged the couples attending in their marriages. In October, a Couples Disc Golf event was organized and facilitated where 18 couples came to build teamwork with each other in a fun day together with other couples, including lunch. Fun activities were encouraged at the start of each hole and tips for healthy marriages were shared over lunch along with prizes for winners. --Parenting Class: Like Arrows class for couples on parenting was held with 10 couples attending, stressing the importance of a healthy marriage for heathy families and tools for parenting, was facilitated in the spring (April-June) in an encouraging, supportive group setting. --Individual couple mentoring was provided by staff to three couples for approximately 6 weeks each, using the Prepare-Enrich Inventory. --Pastoral counseling hundreds of hours were provided by staff to dozens of couples and individuals who needed more intensive assistance.--FCHMC staff attended/spoke at various churches, organizations, and marriage events, including a marriage conference in March for approximately 16 young couples in a local Hmong church in March, and a dinner at a restaurant for one churchs eight marriage mentor couples for training, sharing, encouragement and collaboration.--FCHMC staff attended the National Alliance for Relationship and Marriage Education national conference (NARME Summit) in Oklahoma City, OK, for training with marriage and research experts and collaboration with marriage ministry leaders from around the country. Staff also attended monthly trainings for marriage ministry leaders online via Zoom, organized by the Community Marriage Initiative, a national effort. Staff training benefits the churches, couples, and people that the FCHMC reaches with current information and additional ways and opportunities to support marriages.--The FCHMC website (www.growyourmarriage.com) was continually updated with the upcoming relationship classes and marriage events offered by the coalition with online registration available. These and other events were also promoted with an email program, as well as through social media.--Encouraging messages were sent throughout the year to couples and sponsors of the coalition, through the mail, email and social media.--A quarterly e-newletter for promoting FCHMC events and marriage tips for encouraging couples was begun this year.--The FCHMC continues to develop relationships needed to spearhead a county-wide effort to help churches start or expand their marriage ministries in a community marriage initiative called the Fresno Area Marriage Initiative (FAMI). Building more relationships with additional local churches will eventually enable FCHMC to promote these churches marriage events to more couples, as well as offer our classes and training to their couples. FCHMC hosted three free breakfast Marriage Roundtable events (January, May, September) for pastors and marriage leaders to share information among the attendees, build relationships with these pastors, and to offer resources and assistance with their marriage ministries. Each Marriage Roundtable had a different marriage emphasis and each was hosted at a different church venue.--The FCHMC Annual Fundraising Dinner event was held in August with approximately 92 couples (184 people) in attendance to celebrate marriage and to draw attention to the benefits of healthy marriages in society. It was the 20th Anniversary of this marriage ministry, and the event provided a fun and encouraging date night evening with a Special Anniversary theme. Fresno County Supervisor Nathan Magsig brought an inspirational, personal marriage message stressing the value of healthy marriages in a community, staff shared educational marriage information, games got the couples attending involved, the founding couple shared a Through the Years report, couples helped through FCHMC shared their testimonies, and current FCHMC leadership shared the value and accomplishments of the mission, as well as the vision and needs for the future. | - | $130,926 |
