Due to the high reliance on volunteers and in-kind donations, the volume of actual financial transactions is low. Therefore, staff and the executive committe, based on their knowledge of the business affiliations of board members and staff, are able to effectively identify circumstances where a conflict of interest may arise and take action to ensure compliance with the policy. Staff and the executive committee obtain knowledge of business affiliations through various means, including an annual disclosure process.
