Mission

The mission of dogwood ranch is to rebuild generations and break the cycle of trauma by restoring the one. We are an exempt organization which provides critical services to the communities and counties with which we are associated. By being exempt we are able to better provide services to at risk populations such as foster children/youth and military veterans and their families.

The vision of dogwood ranch is to see that every foster youth and at-risk family within the heart of the ozarks has the opportunity to function fully in their god-given gifts and destiny, impacting future generations.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

In 2024, our healing reins equine therapy program served 96 unique clients in its traditional weekday program. We continued to work with our primary targeted populations including current and former foster children/youth, those who have experienced significant loss and other trauma survivors. Upon completing our 12-week equine therapy program, 94% of our clients reported an increased attempt to create healthy attachments with their caregivers and trusted family members, 87% reported having improved their ability to verbally express their emotions and 75% reported an increase in hope/motivation for the future. We are so thankful for the continued healing and hope that healing reins provides to our most fragile populations. Additionally, we were able to expand our healing reins therapeutic team by adding a second licensed therapist and equine specialist who focus solely on serving and supporting our military/veteran/first responder population. That program served 16 unique clients in 2024, all of whom reported a significant reduction in anxiety post treatment.

The haven transitional living program safely housed, mentored and supported 5 female residents in 2024 and their (combined) 4 minor children. Working with single moms has been particularly rewarding as we have helped them gain stability in their day-to-day life, positively impacting their employment, financial goals and emotional well-being. This has in turn helped them parent their children more successfully and maintain their independent living skills. We are proud to share that 78% of our residents' treatment goals were accomplished/completed while they were residing at the haven dogwood ranch was able to maintain our primary staff, allowing us to continue serving and meeting the needs of our community. We continued to partner with multiple local agencies by way of referrals, support and combining fundraising/awareness efforts together. Additionally, our ceo continued to serve on a governor appointed foster parent advisory board where she represents her region in swmo and is currently the sitting chair of that board. We also logged over 5,000 volunteer hours throughout the year and hosted several corporate and philanthropic work groups.

THIS HAS IN TURN HELPED THEM PARENT THEIR CHILDREN MORE SUCCESSFULLY AND MAINTAIN THEIR INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS. WE ARE PROUD TO SHARE THAT 78% OF OUR RESIDENTS' TREATMENT GOALS WERE ACCOMPLISHED/COMPLETED WHILE THEY WERE RESIDING AT THE HAVEN DOGWOOD RANCH WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN OUR PRIMARY STAFF, ALLOWING US TO CONTINUE SERVING AND MEETING THE NEEDS OF OUR COMMUNITY. WE CONTINUED TO PARTNER WITH MULTIPLE LOCAL AGENCIES BY WAY OF REFERRALS, SUPPORT AND COMBINING FUNDRAISING/AWARENESS EFFORTS TOGETHER. ADDITIONALLY, OUR CEO CONTINUED TO SERVE ON A GOVERNOR APPOINTED FOSTER PARENT ADVISORY BOARD WHERE SHE REPRESENTS HER REGION IN SWMO AND IS CURRENTLY THE SITTING CHAIR OF THAT BOARD. WE ALSO LOGGED OVER 5,000 VOLUNTEER HOURS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AND HOSTED SEVERAL CORPORATE AND PHILANTHROPIC WORK GROUPS.

WE CONTINUED TO WORK WITH OUR PRIMARY TARGETED POPULATIONS INCLUDING CURRENT AND FORMER FOSTER CHILDREN/YOUTH, THOSE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED SIGNIFICANT LOSS AND OTHER TRAUMA SURVIVORS. UPON COMPLETING OUR 12-WEEK EQUINE THERAPY PROGRAM, 94% OF OUR CLIENTS REPORTED AN INCREASED ATTEMPT TO CREATE HEALTHY ATTACHMENTS WITH THEIR CAREGIVERS AND TRUSTED FAMILY MEMBERS, 87% REPORTED HAVING IMPROVED THEIR ABILITY TO VERBALLY EXPRESS THEIR EMOTIONS AND 75% REPORTED AN INCREASE IN HOPE/MOTIVATION FOR THE FUTURE. WE ARE SO THANKFUL FOR THE CONTINUED HEALING AND HOPE THAT HEALING REINS PROVIDES TO OUR MOST FRAGILE POPULATIONS. ADDITIONALLY, WE WERE ABLE TO EXPAND OUR HEALING REINS THERAPEUTIC TEAM BY ADDING A SECOND LICENSED THERAPIST AND EQUINE SPECIALIST WHO FOCUS SOLELY ON SERVING AND SUPPORTING OUR MILITARY/VETERAN/FIRST RESPONDER POPULATION.
