IRS990/Desc0Oncology experts agree that harmonizing approval processes and clinical trials globally will benefit patients and save lives. The current state of cancer care highlights several major challenges: lack access to clinical trials and the benefits that accrue from them; disharmony slowing the development and regulatory approval of treatments; and inadequate global infrastructure and collaboration. It is generally accepted that harmonization is important but a targeted and focused effort to achieve this goal is lacking. In response, HARMONY is fostering a global collaborative. With ten million cancer patient deaths annually, it is time to accelerate the goal of building this global network of allies to expedite and coordinate global cancer clinical trials and identify areas of congruence among principal regulatory agencies around the world. Harmonizing will enhance life-changing therapies for cancer patients with success defined as a drug approved anywhere will be available everywhere.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0Molecular testing is a foundational element of personalized medicine. Understanding and overcoming challenges in implementing best practice guidelines for molecular testing can support better diagnosis and guide treatment decisions. "Incorporating Molecular Testing to Support Personalized Cancer Care" is a three-part educational program that focuses on the adoption of best practice guidelines and incorporating evidence from an MD Anderson Cancer Network Performance Improvement and Quality Improvement (PI/QI) program (a program of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center). Piloted at two Cancer Network sites, this PI/QI program aimed to optimize the use of molecular testing in thyroid and lung cancers

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0STO's initiative, Racial Disparities in Cancer Care, acknowledges the disproportionate burden certain US groups face in cancer rates, screenings, diagnosis, and survival. It strives to heighten awareness, identify treatment obstacles, and encourage healthcare professionals to advance change. This initiative, stemming from the "Addressing Racial Disparities in Cancer Care" educational program, aims to prepare healthcare teams to alleviate racial disparities in cancer patient care. Resources from these activities remain available as an educational tool. STO remains committed to continuously developing programs to reduce these disparities and empowering healthcare teams in their ongoing efforts for cancer patients.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActyOtherGrp/Desc0The Society for Translational Oncology (STO) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that promotes high-quality, equitable patient care and fosters the discovery and clinical translation of important new therapies that enhance the practice of global oncology as well as supports the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases that impact cancer patients and others with weakened immune systems, thus helping protect the vulnerable from life-threatening infections. STO bridges a translational gap between drug discovery and approved drug delivery with a portfolio of educational activities for physicians and other members of the healthcare team. STO's decades-long commitment to translational research and education includes fellowships in both cancer and infectious diseases. The latter has become a critical STO commitment during the COVID-19 pandemic from the global genesis to worldwide distribution of new vaccines and improved therapeutics. STO is committed to diversity, inclusivity, and equity throughout our programs.
